Gunn’s supermen is better when compared to the edgy Superman era. While Snyder’s Superman was too busy brooding and aura farming to save people, Gunn’s Superman saved a squirrel.
I dunno, man. He was too selfish and brooding to fight Solaris, so you had a whole scene where he just says fuck it instead of helping anyone.

Gunn really should've left Superman to someone who actually cares about and likes the character while he went off and did his C-lister movies. The fact he said he didn't have any idea how to write Superman until he read about Krypto was the most obvious red flag.

Gunn. That is what.
Last time they canceled Gunn, everyone vouched for him because he only hires people he can be buddies with or are family.

I don’t know if Gunn is the type to ask for sexual favors, wouldn’t be surprised if he was, but his casting choices all seem to prioritize the actors liking him off camera, over any acting ability, or looking the part for that matter.

Say all you like about Snyder. At least he hired people he thought would be best for the job, and kept it professional.

I got a strong feeling Paramount, when they finish buying Warner Bros, will lay off Gunn or give him the boot. Either way, there’s no way I’m seeing him work for Paramount.

Speaking of Paramount buying DC, I find it ironic they’re buying WB/DC when they helped launch the MCU. Marvel actually asked Paramount to buy them out in 2009, but Paramount had neither the money nor interest in buying Marvel, who later sold to Disney.

I don't get how every new adaptation of the Superman mythos past STAS probably manages to fall flat on some level, you'd think it would be easy to write him and the world as intended. Instead the characters aren't who they're supposed to be or you get something like MAWS that's bogged down with modern tripe that shouldn't be in a Superman show.

It's pretty easy when you think about it:

1. The people writing have zero interest in the history or character of Superman.
2. The people writing have zero interest in telling a Superman story - he is either a foil for whomever they actually want to write about, a gateway to something they're actually interested in, or just a target to deconstruct because they think he represents things they hate.
3. The people writing are talentless hacks who work extremely cheaply because they already have money (nepos), or because the clout is more important than the money.

That's literally it.

I can respect the pragmatism of Gunn's approach but it isn't a strategy that works on a grand scale. Eventually, you run out of people who like you and they can't pull of every character. He can build a trilogy but no Cinematic Universe.

If Sydney Sweeney was going to portray any superhero, it'd be Power Girl, for obvious reasons.
She has the talent for it.

I think people, even in this thread, give Gunn a pass because everyone was starved for Boy Scout wholesome Superman after a very long era of “evil Superman” .

Gunn’s supermen is better when compared to the edgy Superman era. While Snyder’s Superman was too busy brooding and aura farming to save people, Gunn’s Superman saved a squirrel.

But if you compare him to all the other great versions of Superman he does fall short. Whiny, inmature, with goofy villains, the whole thing of him being sent to conquer Earth etc.

And yet the idea of a Superman that saves lives, and genuinely is a good person somehow seems revolutionary instead of the bare minimum. Both Gunn’s Superman and Supergirl fall short to the top ones, even compared to their MAWs version. And those are the ones everyone thought would be woke garbage
I liked Gunn's Superman, but you really hit the nail on the head there. He's fine, but nothing compared to other Supermen like Christopher Reeve or George Newbern.

Not even the woke trannies like Supergirl. One of the same faggot who was upset when others made fun of the female cop who accidentally killed more people than the incel spree shooter, is here currently downvoting people making fun of Milly Alcock here. Top Kek.
So who's going to bite the bullet and see the movie to find out how lousy it really is?
I won’t lie and pretend MAWS hasn’t been Shoujoified. It reeks that it was made woke millennials that watch too much anime.
I don't get why so many cartoons these days are trying to emulate anime when most people would probably just watch anime instead.
However, one thing I give them credit is that they are genuinely trying to create the best show they can instead of doing it to spite viewers. Bare minimum I know.
My Adventures With Superman is one of the most middle of the road DC cartoons, but when it delivers, it's damn good. Jack Quaid really captures the essence of both Clark Kent and Superman with his performance.
My Adventures With Green Lantern are next and I already know it will be disappointing.
The focus of the show is going to be Jessica Cruz.
I couldn't tell you what her supporting cast for the show would be besides other Green Lanterns, though, and it looks like the show is going to have Kyle in it so maybe he'll get to show off some GL stuff.
Who's willing to bet they'll only introduce Hal Jordan to make him Parallax?
They did something that has been verboten for years, they dared to make her look happy and not full of daddy issues and other bullshit. Just look at that smile!

I also love her design with the scarf helping making her suit look different than Clark's suit without needing to wear a jacket over it.

It is a different design, definitely less sexulized than earlier ones. I feel it fits the general tone of the show. They are going back to basics for it, while wanting to put their own spin in it. The scarf is cute and lets her stand out. Bad on Jimmy for fumbling her from what clips I've seen. That's another verboten thing they did- heterosexual romance, in my western cartoons???

I already said I would. Either Friday or Saturday I should have word.

I tried to watch some of MAWS and it left a sour taste in my mouth, at least STAS cares about both how Superman and the surrounding universe was portrayed, even if it was already connected to other DC shows like BTAS.
Superman takes a certain mindset that most creatives don’t have these days given the cynical irony poisoning of modern media. Hell, the DCAU almost could have ended up the same way as the writers admit pure favoritism to Batman.

You have to be able to write a hopeful man with no baggage that can still put the foot down, it’s hard for writers to relate to him or find him interesting compared to trauma bat. Superman takes more effort to make interesting as the default is that he is a boring nice guy who can do anything with no struggle given his powers. The DCAU weakened him and did a wide variety of plots that often made the conflict more than just a fight to achieve this, but many writers are not that creative.

Given the above, he is a harder sell to people in current day, so every writer tries to reinvent the wheel to make him interesting. They think he needs to be more like Batman or some other flavored capeshitter, otherwise he’ll be seen as boring.

But yeah, they just had to jam is all that gay woke shit and race swap jimmy & Perry.
Being fair to MAWS, these changes were made before it. Jimmy got CW’d and Perry has been black since Snyder.

The focus of the show is going to be Jessica Cruz.
You know, it could be fine. I didn’t mind Faust’s Jessica, whose seems to have gained quite a following.

Who's willing to bet they'll only introduce Hal Jordan to make him Parallax?
Nah, for all of MAWS’s problems, it is a shipping show that takes great strides to make the heterosexual male character appealing to women. Hal will probably screw Jessica given the audience, plus it has already been shipped previously.

Get ready for a Carol-Jessica-Hal love triangle

Because people have come to like anime more. The DCAU was made during an era when the writers had very little anime to get inspiration from so most used older superhero media for ideas. After a while, western animation started shitting the bed and anime started gaining a lot of ground. So now we have anime fans making cartoons.

Basically, a cynical fuck cannot write Superman. It must be someone both optimistic and smart. As for making him interesting, he always was. People forget that he tends to be a witty smartass. He can be really funny if he wants. Also, they can always give him other characters to work off. Interesting villains and a fun supporting cast are a must.

Honestly, I never liked Carol. Neither did I like Hal. Maybe switching around the couple will help.

I can see it.

I love how so many deconstructions act like Superman can't have all that power and be a good person, when the whole idea behind Superman's arch-enemy is he's too self-centered to assume someone like Superman can't be a good person.
Like fucking clockwork. Every time a movie like this hits theaters and tanks critically, it means there has to be some sexist conspiracy against it.

This little run in Superman with Prime as the focus has been the most fun I've had with a Big Two comic in years.
The Prime Retard is the best unadapted thing from the comics, he’s a treasure.
