These requirements are not a burden. If dress pants and blouses for women and polos and khakis for men are permitted, this is more a "don't come looking like a complete slob" event than it is a formal event. (Granted, Chris doesn't have anything close to what is permitted -- male or female -- in his closet at home but I would think that even the most pathetic cellar dweller can scrounge up an off-brand polo shirt and a pair of Gap khakis.)

Any thrift shop will have a heap of formal clothes for both men and women cheap. If pretending to be a princess is your thing, there are always plenty of bridal and bridesmaids dresses to be found in thrift shops.

I've been interested in CWC for like five years and I still cannot get over how oddly shaped he is. He has the legs of an anorexic teenage girl with the torso of a middle-aged dad, and an enormous head.

Also I've just noticed how many items of headwear he has on. The pony horn, the pony ears to go with it, the Sailor Moon tiara and then it looks like there's another headband that's so far back that it's functionally useless.

From the pictures I've seen of the gala it looks like as long as you make an attempt at formal wear, you should be fine. If it's any indication of the band I saw pics of, it's like casual mixed with formal attire at the least. So yeah, it's hard to fuck it up.

Edit: Okay I just saw a video of them, plus the audience they were playing to and if this is the gala thing, they were REALLY lenient with the dress code lmfao. The band is the best dressed out of the whole video. Everyone else is either in cosplay or casual clothes.

It makes me think Chris looked pretty damn bad when he wasn't allowed in.

If this is somehow not the Gala and these guys are playing at a separate part of the con, I'll let you know but I'm just cracking the fuck up at the whole "Dress in formal attire!" thing was just disregarded.

For many of these people, particularly the men, it will be the first and only time they will ever attempt "formal wear", and it's for the sake of accurately recreating an event that happened in My Little Pony

Considering they're troon bronies, instead of an armored knight, they would look more like this guy:

Still more of a knight than Jay Geis ever will be.

Chris posted on FB rambling about how OCs and ponysonas work.

Oh, God, he's promoted Nightstar/himself to Princess Alicorn tier.

Alicorns in MLP FIM are basically demigods, having control over the moon, sun, can make people fall in love, or simply unimaginable raw power.

Don't ask me how I know this, but generally, having an alicorn OC is frowned upon specifically within the brony community because that's a cheap way of making a super powerful OC without having to explain much about them. It's like some edgelord making a self-insert non-human OC who is black and red because everybody wants to be a cool Shadow the Hedgehog edgelord brooder who is stupid powerful and cool looking because reasons.

Oh jesus fuck is he going to think those give him actual flight powers on top of his telekinetic self-levitation flying?

To be fair it's also extremely frowned upon within the brony community to be Chris-chan

What the fuck is even happening here? Chris is called up to do a reading of a fanfic or something, he says the word "book", the curly-haired guy stops him and says "no... eet eez POOK" and everyone applauds, indicating that Chris has... lost? Won? What was the objective? The only part I understood was at the beginning, when Chris took a moment to inform everyone that he is Chris. I actually feel like I now know less about bronies than I did before.

Just a couple of days ago, @Mariposa Electrique described Chris's body shape as being like a pear on stilts and, the more I think about it, the more I like it.

Right. Because Chris has never before turned himself into an overpowered OC with literally every superpower imaginable without explaining how.

Although ... Chris at BronyCon thinking he has the power to make people fall in love does have lots of interesting possibilities...

As the years go on, the more @Chrus Chundlur's profile pic looks unaltered.

They probably disregarded it because no-one bothered. It's pretty silly to expect people to walk around a packed, sweaty convention hall in formal wear until the Gala starts. The options are either that or carrying your suit/shoes/dress/heels/whatever-else in a bag with you all day and then changing in the toilets.

Also their definition of "formal attire" gives the example of Sailor Moon's princess dress relative to her Sailor Scout uniform to make the term "formal" more digestible to autists, so I doubt the dress code was ever going to be that strictly enforced.
