This is the relevant part of the statute. I think the taser is a safe assumption but it is also possible she had a knife or something I guess. There are firearm-related charges under this charge but they would definitely not be used in NYC as NYC has much more severe gun laws.
yeah they can put out a warrant in other states for you but it's unlikely she'd get caught up unless they pulled her name up on a traffic violation or somethingHow do state level laws work? Can you just never set foot in that state again and avoid court this way or can they extradite you from a state where the crime in question isn't a crime in the other state?

do they not also call the other PD and ask if they want the warrant executed? that's what I gleamed from live PDexample.
Say you get a court date in NY and you no show, NY puts a bench warrant out for you "failure to appear". now say you live in Indiana. you get stopped in IN the IN cops run your info, it will come back warrant NY failure to appear. at that point IN can arrest you and hold you until NY comes and gets you, Or IN can just say fuck them commie losers in NY and ignore it and you go on your way.
This happened on the 26th, the day she left NYC. Also, tasers, knives and even firearms may be on CHECKED bags as long as they are packed according to regulations. My best guess is she had her taser in her purse while in NYC and forgot to re-pack it in her luggage before going to the airport.Could this just be from having it her luggage on the plane and it being scanned upon arrival in NYC?

I don't think anyone is really expecting consequences but if they were to postpone her appearance wouldn't they have done it by now? it's in a couple hours time. It also seems likely she's hiding out at mums in NY and not in Texas right nowThis is a first time appearance which 90% of the time gets adjourned/ a continuance. Especially if precious is not in the state. Sorry to burst you bubble fellow kiwis but usually charges like this will drag and eventually be plead out.
Nycef’s online system is shit and sometimes takes days to properly reflect updated info. Usually most adj requests are processed day before/ same day, her appearance is tomorrow. There is no atty info listed for her, and usually ny courts are forgiving when its 1st time on w/o counselI don't think anyone is really expecting consequences but if they were to postpone her appearance wouldn't they have done it by now? it's in a couple hours time. I live in New York. And have some experience with the law. The Judge could issue a bench warrant, which they probably will. But this is such a minor crime and she has money and a clean record, that she could skip out on court and have her lawyer clear this all up without her ever stepping foot in court. Plead it down and pay a fine. Even if the DA is dead set on prosecuting unless shes stopped in NYC and close enough to the jurisdiction, they probably wouldn't bother to come transport her for extradition. It costs a lot of money to do for a charge that will either get plead down or dropped. Honestly if I were in her shoes, I'd let my lawyer handle it and if they insisted I appear, I would simply not go. There's very little they can do about it.How do state level laws work? Can you just never set foot in that state again and avoid court this way or can they extradite you from a state where the crime in question isn't a crime in the other state?
kiwis making this all dramatic, she got whacked by the port authority. My guess is that she was trying to take the subway or train and got flagged for carrying. Also it most likely wasn't a taser as if I remember correctly it is no longer a misdemeanor to have a taser/dart gun in NY. This type of charge is usually reserved for a small pocket knife.Whoops sorry you're right, tomorrow. My bad.
I wouldn't be surprised if she had to show but I don't think anything will come of this charge.
Airport is possible too, her mum has an appt in NY and Bella can get reduced air fare due to her mother's job. Would make sense why she got searched and popped tookiwis making this all dramatic, she got whacked by the port authority. You're right it's Queens, she probably got nabbed at JFK.Airport is possible too, her mum has an appt in NY and Bella can get reduced air fare due to her mother's job. Would make sense why she got searched and popped too
makes more sense than 20yo white girl getting stopped in the subway and searched altho we will soon find out, it's pYou're right it's Queens, she probably got nabbed at JFK.
Also should be noted, as per my recollection of an earlier post made by another user elsewhere (sorry that I can't provide receipt - I'm up to my eyeballs in receipts) - a "taser" is a specific type/brand of stun gun which has prongs that shoot out and clasp onto the target, causing electrical charge to run through the whole body, with the intention of completely disabling the target. What she seems to have is a generic "stun gun" which doesn't have a projectile element to it, with the electrical charge running between the two nodes that are fixed onto the "gun." This is, to my understanding, legally relevant.
