What I don't get about any of this is the end goal. Presumably the initial idea is to become a more idealized version of yourself, crafted in an image you choose but ultimately surely the goal is to be more attractive to the desired sex. The issue I see with this is that these procedures generate a body only a twisted doll fetishist could love and I'm not sure many of them are in the particular income bracket these people are trying to attract. I honestly get why some people consider plastic surgery addiction to be a form of mental illness. It's essentially a really expensive way to self harm.

I'm personally of the view that an appreciation of classical beauty standards would prevent a great deal of the bad cosmetic surgery outcomes we see. It's worth noting that Cindy Jackson (the woman who held the world record for having the most cosmetic surgery procedures for decades) based her plastic surgery philosophy on this idea (she was a former art student, and decided to model her face on Da Vinci's classical proportions) and she ended up looking remarkably normal, despite the massive amount of work she had done.
I don't think they're trying to harm themselves, I think they just have very bad taste. Whenever I see someone with obviously fake breasts or ridiculously over-filled lips, I'm reminded of those tasteless McMansions you see that have fake turrets and Greek columns everywhere (the sort you typically see professional footballers buy). Both lack the subtlety indicative of a refined appreciation of aesthetics, and as a result, just look vulgar.

That's interesting. I looked up Cindy Jackson and she's in her early 60s but could pass for half her age. I feel like with people who get good and/or reasonable plastic surgery, you wouldn't even know. It's VERY obvious someone's had work done if they have no sense of taste or limits like people in this thread.
