So I finally decided to start watching MrEnter's "review" of Mars Needs Moms. I'm only five minutes in and he's just speaking in an angry tone nonstop. Dude, you're watching "Mars Needs Moms" not "Birth of a Nation." There is no need for you to get so worked up over a movie.

On top of his mindless-nitpicking about stupid, insignificant details (i.e. girl jumping for ice cream), I can't stand his bitching about the motion capture. I must not have a keen eye for animation but I don't think the motion capture is THAT bad. It's mediocre sure, but not bad.
 
@Trilby: To tie this all together, it was through said band member that I got to meet a few people he knew who were cartoonists, some of whom had created their own shows. They were really great guys, really interesting people, but it led me to realize what's wrong with a lot of cartoon morons of today and specifically the subject of this forum.

They have very limited taste in media. Take you-know-who. He explicitly refuses to review or even watch old animation. A lot of the creators of the great animated shows, I've found out, had pretty widespread tastes, and I've come to believe that that is what helps you make a memorable cartoon.

Growing Around is terrible because it comes from a person whose taste in media is limited to the cartoons he grew up with, and maybe some other live-action stuff.

Hate to see him go through a college film class if they played a film as respected as D. W. Griffith's.

It isn't, certainly mediocre, but adequate enough.

Certainly exposure to different ideas and creators is important. Enter sounds so isolated and closed-minded, I just can't see him go there.
 
@CuriousBystander: Admittedly, if he hates it, he'd have that in common with R. Crumb. But they'd hate it for very different reasons.

This is something I see with cartoon morons, actually. They want to see animation that's more serious and adult. But when you ask them about what they want that's more serious and adult - they want stuff just like the action cartoons they all love, or - ugh! - Avatar.

Crumb certainly had his reasons to kill off Fritz when he did.

I hate it when some guy uses Avatar as an example of "what a good cartoon is like" because it is pretty much a fucking anime.

I really dislike the implication that in order to be good western animation has to become a carbon copy of anime.

Yeah - I'd rather he review something that he actually has to research and learn about what made it so noteworthy or popular to talk about at the time... MY suggestions (Brandy & Mr. Whiskers; The Buzz On Maggie) - ARE NOT what I'm looking for, in terms of improving his non-visible worth at something he fails to be good at, royally.
Too bad I don't want to even watch the guy, but whatever.

NOTE: This is coming from someone who liked the Avatar series'...

You do know how fucking right you are. I don't ever wanna see Western animation become like anime - if anything, at least IMHO, we just need to learn to make more lasting action fare and not screw it over so much, due to toy sales and whatnot - even if that's what action shows in general are usually made for in order to capitalize on the costs to animate the stuff in the first place. Sad, but true, as that is.

Then again, NO anime ever wasn't trying to peddle SOMETHING, whether it be a toy, novel, or video game. Every anime in existence has been made based off of or with something like that in mind - no matter how much the weeaboos lie to you in that regard.

All I ever wanna see out of Western animation is a continued better writing, less cliches or effective aversi0n of them into something more engaging, and more flawed & noteworthy characters worth getting behind, like I feel we have now, but not completely, at least IMHO.

3. Every time Enter says "Literally", everyone takes a shot
4. Every time Enter overthinks something, everyone takes a shot
5. Every time Enter calls a character "Mean Spirited", everyone takes a shot
6. If someone groans, they take a shot
7. If it's a show that someone enjoys, they have to take a shot
8. Last person to join Enter in saying "What I'm doing is wrong, I know it's wrong, but I'm gonna do it anyway" has to chug it all
