The real question is, does he even have an actual lawyer?

My theory is that he and/or Monica (and I hope that they retain separate attorneys, because in my uneducated opinion their interests conflict) think they will be represented by Funimation. We'll see!! I am doubtful this will be the case.

A decent lawyer is at least a couple of hundred an hour. Given the sheer amount involved they'd need a ton of time, or at least a couple of junior associates to get through it. Either way he's probably looking at at least a few grand conservatively.

The real question is, does he even have an actual lawyer? I can't imagine any lawyer representing him allowing him to continue spouting his drivel up until now, once he knew a suit was imminent. If he didn't have a lawyer before this, he's gonna have a hell of a time getting a good one now.

Any lawyer of even modest competency would be ethically required to tell Soye that he is fucked and needs to reach a settlement. They would be happy to represent him in reaching that settlement. Not the answer Soye wants and so he demands that the lawyer take it all the way to trial. At which point he either gets told to cough up 100 grand or go look in a phone book.

Some lawyers have little competency and are more interested in getting any case. If they thought Ron was guilty they'd have to do as you say, but it's possible Ron hasn't been entirely forthcoming with them.

They're going to want a lot up front. It isn't just reading through all this crap. That will be several grand by itself. They'll have to estimate what defending the case from now indefinitely to the end will cost, and what just the first couple months are going to cost.

They're going to be asking for a lot up front even to touch this. This isn't some dog bite suit with nobody seriously hurt where you can just cite a flat number and go on from there.

Which is why Funimation would never freely take to the case to defend Monica. Not only they might be pledging guilty by association but the sheer cost of it would be something they'd rather get away from entirely unscathed unless they are absolutely obliged to defend themselves.

If the incoming lawsuits never reach Funimation directly (which at this point sounds unlikely), they can very easily just drop another 1 or 2 or 3 voice actors and hire brand new ones with entire careers ahead of them. How many weebs out there would work for free for even the smallest chance of being the next Vic Mignona or Monica Rial? It's not like it's a job that requires decades of training and education either...

If Funimation thinks dropping Monica and others will mean they get to walk away from all of this, they will do it in an instant without thinking.

Those little piggies should be wondering exactly how Nick got anything at all from the supposed internal investigation of Funimation. How many sources could there be for such documents?

Oh I have the utmost confidence that by the end of this Ron will end up in jail for contempt of court and will get his asshole serviced by a real Tyrone.
Gets legally fucked by a white Tyrone, then gets prison fucked by black Tyrone.

The most obvious lie would be in his bar complaint where he claims that Vic ordered his followers to harass Vic kickers "by any means necessary" when Vic said absolutely nothing of the sort.

This was, quite simply, a brazen and deliberate lie in an official document submitted to a legal forum.
Gee, I hope this can't be used as proof of malice or something like that. That sure would be a shame:

He’s going to be asked about both of those filings at deposition, isn’t he?

The problem is, any Lawyer once he looks at the materials is going to see that his wannabe client has A. Repeatedly accused the Plaintiff of serial sexual assault, rape, pedophillia or child molestation, etc. All without apparent basis. In excess of 400 times. Oh and B. He filed a number of dodgy bar complaints against plaintiffs lawyer and a third party that largly contain nothing but more sexual assault accusations, this time in sworn affidavit’s to two different state bars. And that’s before we even get to the clearly documented Tortious Interference utilizing his own employer. At this point the lawyer is going to say “take all of your money and just give it to him! Because short of necking yourself, that’s the only way out”.

UPS wants in on this action...

I assume this has probably already been posted somewhere but I'm way behind in the main thread and it's relevant here. Also, it's fucking hilarious.

UPS must monitor the twitterwebs pretty closely. They weren't tagged, and there were no relevant hashtags in that post, but they responded to it within 10 minutes. Maybe they search for "UPS" and "package", or something.

UPS has been in touch.

There was part of Nick's stream last night where Ty mentioned that he needed to send out all of these takedown notices for every single defamatory tweet.

By no means am I claiming Soye is some kind of 4D chess player, but what if someone just posted so many statements all over the internet, that it becomes physically impossible for even an entire team of lawyers to keep up with the sheer volume of it? At what point does the amount of effort to deal with the pure unbridled autism become too much to bear?

Also, does anyone know if these all need to be posted individually? I can understand wanting to send it all as one packet, but can you imagine being the mail carrier that has to delivery 400 individual letters to someone one day? And it's not just 400 letters, but 400 letters all from the same sender, which is a law firm. That's the kind of shit you'd remember for decades.
Spite. A frivolous bar complaint is basically guaranteed to make an lawyer see red. There’s probably a few attorneys that’d make some filings gratis for that, or try to get the dumbass to issue individual retractions for his compulsive twitter sperging as mentioned earlier in the thread.

I imagine it would be something like this:

Can Ron plead insanity for a defamation case? Because I think that would be the only way to save his ass.

There's no insanity defense in civil cases, unless you're so insane that you have a legal guardian who is on the hook for your behavior.

also, insanity defense hardly ever works. the end result isnt you getting off scott free, its getting your goofy ass locked up for a fucking longass time in a psych ward while doctors try to figure out if you need a lobotomy or enough pills to foam at the mouth (and saying "hey, im not longer crazy. let me out" will not get you let out).

overall, pleading insanity is fucking way worse than just admitting youre guilty

they dont have to do all of that, just settle out of court and do as ty says. they would be realy stupid to fight this.
