Also, slightly off topic here, but how the fuck does Phil keep getting interviewed for things? I know reporters go to lengths to find the oddest people, but it's sort of weird to have Phil Forest Gumping his way through Portland.

I knew a bloke long ago that was an unashamed attention whore, and his personal attention- seeking niche was to go to as many large public gatherings as he could (parades. protests, high-profile film screenings, Black Friday lines, etc), hoping that the local news or anyone with a microphone would be covering the event. He'd go out of his way just to flag these people down at the chance of an interview, and since they always looking for padding, he will most likely get one.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is what Phil does. His appearance and demeanor are perfect for portraying any group he's associated with as batshit crazy.

That's why I found the "Rainbow Jesus" episode so hilarious. Even a bearded, stereotypical aging hippie in neon tie dye shit realized he was completely tarded and was making them look like fools and intercepted him.

Phil getting a taste of his own medicine? I don't think anyone will lose any sleep over that.
But what Phil is doing by sticking around in at best an unhealthy relationship and at worse an abusive relationship is adding to the fallacy that queer relationships can't be unhealthy/abusive. There's very little talk in queer education about abusive relationships and a lot of people in same-sex relationships are even more hesitant that folks in hetero relationships to come forward or leave their partners. If anything, queer abusers have an extra edge on their victims aside from the usual garbage logic ("How can I be abusive? We're both gay. Only straight men are abusive.").

Anything a trans persons does can/will be ammo for the anti-trans camp regardless of how much it happens in literally every other group. So by Phil clamming up and choosing to defend labels rather than character he does nothing positive for the trans community. If he did actually call out Toren then I could almost commend him for bringing up an often ignored topic. But this is Phil. And his credibility is so shot that even if he did manage to escape a legit abusive relationship and try to educate others it would come off as petty retaliation for a breakup.

The only qualm I have about this happening is Toren getting away with it and his reputation unscathed. Phil is a piece of shit but Toren is equally so and should be unpersoned along with Phil.

Actually, I've said the same thing. Phil was apparently a bit of a conservative when he was younger, which makes me think his autistic brain picked up on the idea of acting like a "leftist" to try and get back at his family.

I've said before that I think under different circumstances, he'd be as far right as it gets. The idea of putting on a uniform and laying into vulnerable minorities sounds right up his street. He already has the tendency to blame particular demographics for his failings in life. I think the only reason he's a leftie now is because they're more tolerant of his identity bullshit and excuses for not working than conservatives would be.
