The valley girl lisping slur thing was there, definitely. There were a few people there who actually were Mexican, I assume having to deal with actual people of shades darker than him pulls all the wind from his sails.

I think that had to do with Corinne. He was obsessed with her, as well, as much as Dusty wanted to claim he was the true and honest husbando

So he, like an autist, claimed to be from Canada like she was. I don't think he was called out all that much, or at least not in a way that would embarrass him, so it may have (pure speculation) lead to him being like "fuck it, I faked being a Canuck and fooled people, maybe I'll pretend to be Hispanic next"
 
Did he ever have a specific "coming out as Hispanic" moment? I remember him "coming out" as a Jew, and then as someone who as DID, then as a Satanic/Wiccan/Shinto practitioner.

It just seems to me he mentioned his Jewish identity less and less and then suddenly he's Hispanic.

Now I'm going to be upfront here I've not reached out to Angelo because he's an old guy who's happy with his current life and I don't want him saying anything or doing anything that would bring Phil back into his world even if it's Phil spewing autism at him. I have run across one of his step kids though and they are very much aware of who and what Phil is and they for obvious reasons want nothing to do with him, and are only interested in seeing if Phil's planning on making a move on a guy they have come to love and respect in a way Phil has never even tried to emulate.

So out of respect for Him I'd like to ask that we drop the subject for now because I don't want to give Phil or anyone else ideas.



That's the nail on the head, J-Lo was really hot at the time Phil had his sexual awakening and he thought she was hot and that stuck in his head, the latino culture thing was also popular in mainstream culture around that time and Phil became enamoured with it, much like he later did with Judaism and Israel, but other than very superficial aspects he's never developed an understanding of anything he's interested in, and real latino's not the middle class 90's media safe versions scare the crap out of him because he's never been exposed to them.
