Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

I kind of get annoyed by gun autists getting anal about guns in video games. Especially when it comes down to animation quirks that you don't even notice unless you slow everything down and look for them.

I would have thought this wouldn't be unpopular, but when I mentioned it in another thread I got a lot of shit for calling them autists for it.
I get your point but I tend to lean towards the gun autists in this instance. Games that revolve around gunplay should definitely spend a good amount of time and energy making them look and feel right. There’s a lot that goes into a game, but if it’s the main gameplay, then the detail should be polished on that first. Of course, gun autists are insufferable and unappeasable and want a distracting amount of detail or unfeasible adherence to reality, so fuck em.

on the other end you got plenty of ignorant tards, destiny 2's guns sound, feel and look like fucking soft airs...

As much as I think Shovel Knight is a good game, I find it incredibly annoying how frequently his mug is featured in indie game crossovers. He's basically the slut of the indie game world. Any dev studio who will pass Yacht Club a few bucks gets a pass, regardless of the game's actual quality.
The theme song to Shovel Knight even showed up in Voez, of all things, an indie music game for phones, and it’s.. just the theme song for a few minutes. It’s very repetitive, though that’s not a problem in the normal game since you’ll usually only hear a few seconds of it.

They couldn’t have used one of the much better level themes instead?

It was that "realistic things in games that'd be unrealistic if used" thread wasn't it? That devolved into a gunsperg circlejerk on the first page.

No it was actually on Gamefaqs like a year or two ago, I don't know why I made it sound like it was here.

I was reminded of it cause I saw a video talking about "gun goofs" in video games.

STALKER series suck.

I mean aside from the shitty gameplay of the first STALKER. I mean the setting and the environment. Nothing scary or unique. Fails to capture that eyrie feel you would get from abandoned buildings or soviet institutions. I get why some people like it, but the shit mechanics and the average setting puts it into meh in my book.

Fighting the shit mechanics is the appeal. Like imagine you're controlling a cumbersome fat kid by proxy and he has to make it over a minefield without blowing up, that's what Stalker is.

Stalker with quality of life isn't Stalker that's Metro.

Yea Metro has a way better setting/atmosphere/story.

STALKER is none of that. And I can work with most of them mechanics. But the shooting is just god awful. And stealth is not an option.

Nothing can run it right, because nothing is designed to run abominations like that.
Maybe they ran into trouble porting Before the Storm because of Unity and the devs being hack-frauds? Remember Firewatch, that game was stuttering on Xbone and PS4 in scenes where nothing was going on, Sunset was also a performance disaster even on PC and that game contained nothing.

After playing Astro's playroom in it's entirety(except for the DLC). It's probably the best made game out of anything Japan Studio did before they were reformed. No fucking weird controller decisions, nothing tedious, the whole thing was one smooth experience from start to finish.

Shit like gravity Rush 1 and 2 had weird controller issues and bad side activities, Astro didn't have that. None of the collectables were a pain in the ass or overwhelming. Everything was very well structured and had some real thought put into everything.

Like if they were to continue it, they would probably need to expand on somethings because that would mean shelling out 60-70 dollars for a game rather than just having a free pack-in. But it's more than enough for a solid foundation to get a few more games out of.

Like I could definitely see a series like this taking the place of Rayman or something like that.

To be fair to you though, Peace Walker was about the time I realized that Metal Gear Solid had thoroughly gone to shit with it's goofy AI plot.
Bringing The Boss back as a discount Ben Kenobi.

What purpose did pouring her brain into a computer serve? Strangelove was just really gay for The Boss.

Fan made mods and patches do not make a shit game great, nor should they be an excuse for bad developers. Bethesda's been making the same fucking game since Morrowind and never bothered to learn how to QA their shit game engine. Small glitches and shit I can excuse, but destroying save files, upside down dragons, and their own patches breaking even more shit should not be excused because someone (or a team of someones) decided to fix their bullshit. Bethesda is a shit developer and the constant excuses people gave them is what gave rise to Fallout 76, where the always online stopped people from being able to fix Bethesda's problems and they could finally see what a shit development studio they are (and they had the gall to act shocked when Bethesda stumbled everything leading up to it, to include the IRL pre-order bonuses and other shit. Get someone to knit you a new kevlar bag or whatever for free, bitch). Bethesda only knows how to serve up shit sandwiches, and people telling you that the cook next door can scrape the shit off doesn't suddenly make them a good restaurant, and you get what you fucking deserve.
Another reason Bethesda's games are a buggy mess because they're betas for their next game, skyrim's serana is the beta for FO4s companions for an example.
