Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

I'd be interested in seeing someone wholly rethink the basics of the genre. One on one fight. But less focus on things like frame counting and input speed and kiting and all that. Just like...fighting with striking, clinch, grappling... more fight, less game. I dunno.

I love Bushido Blade since it's a fighting game that eschews genre conventions and makes it possible to finish a match in a single well placed strike.
Rising Thunder had an intriguing spin on the fighting game formula, then Riot bought it and shut it down. I really liked that game.
One thing that was slightly irritating about Silent Assassin, Contracts, and Blood Money (I can't remember if Codename 47 also did this or not) was that you couldn't put shit on hold to check the map, everything continued in real time.
That was both a blessing and a curse in my opinion.
Codename 47: To pull off some things in a nice way you had to haul ass from the start of the mission to set things up, that was really fun. In other missions that you failed repeatedly it meant getting into position, again, then scratch your ass for two minutes, again, until [event] happens.

I don't remember it well enough but I think Codename 47 had an awful, awful checkpoint/extra life system where if you were killed you respawned at the checkpoint but it didn't roll back the state of the game, no, instead everyone was still shooting at you.

FromSoft games should have Easy modes.
But not because I have issue playing them, but just because watching losers on the internet whine about it would be funny.
DES= Stockpile Thomas duplication Glitch
DS= Dragon head Exploit
Bloodborne= Chest Duplication Glitch
DS2= item Duplication Glitch
DS3= Unlimited Souls glitch

NO YOU DIDN'T. The homing suitcase was funny as shit and broken and an ass saver.
Second-best use of a briefcase as a weapon.
I admit it's silly and great for meme webms, but the entire tone of the nu-Hitman games fails to reach the suspense of the original games, or the feeling of relief and payoff once you do manage to pull something off.
I like this trilogy. But it's one of those games where you make your own 'fun.' The base game is for retards.

Ostatnio edytowane:
I personally think the future of good FPS games, at least on PCs, lies in niche topics, such as Napoleonic Line Warfare ala Holdfast and War of Rights. Those are both great games, and are better than a lot of the junk on the market, focusing on a relatively niche, but immensely fun, subject.

Oh, I do have a few:
-SMB2 was/is a fine game and doesn't deserve the (mis)treatment by Nintendo and fans that it gets.
-Mortal Kombat X was a let down and every "new" character is boring. MK11 was only slightly better.
-Majora's Mask was shit. It could have been an actual sequel to the excellent Ocarina of Time, but instead took the stupid side "quest" of getting masks and focused the game on it. Hell, I'll take Adventure of Link and Skyward Sword over Mask.
-Friday the 13th for the NES is a guilty pleasure. The music and the element of dread I had while playing it makes it all the more memorable.
