So what? Drinking during pregnancy is thought to be dangerous in specific developmental moments that cause fetal alcohol syndrome (affecting the brain and head size, face appearance). Since no one knows exactly when these are affected during development, prengant women in the US are told not to drink at all, and in other places they are told to limit their drinking to one or a half glass of wine occasionally. There are alcoholic women who drank throughout their entire pregnancies that do not have FAS babies so the phenomenon clearly has some other aspect to it, I doubt there will be answers any time soon. The third trimester is all about fattening up and lung development, it is by far the least risky time to drink during a pregnancy. I seriously doubt anyone was harmed.

I am more surprised anyone would want to drink during the last trimester because the stomach and bladder are so compressed. Heartburn and needing to pee are both ubiquitous from the compression, and also worsened by drinking.
