Even though Quebec and Ontario are ~58% of the Canadian population, they consistently get equalization payments from the feds, collected from Alberta, BC, and Saskatchewan, despite those provinces being ~28%, because all the federal parties are basically neoliberal of varying shades, and made sure that all the manufacturing and production jobs that used to be clustered along the Great Lakes were off-shored to shitholes. That might be changing a little, now that Trudeau is completely fucking over the oilsands, though; without the oilsands and the other petrochemical extraction and processing industries, Alberta and Saskatchewan are going to be economically fucked.
