Sounds like the economy needs a hard reset after this.Crashing the global economy
WITH NO SURVIVORS
It would be such a pity if the ship gets on fire eventually. Removing the burned wreck would take months and that would be very sad
Even if that doesn't happen now, some people might get some funny ideas for the future. Hypothetically, if someone would be playing a video game where the objective is doing damage to the global economic system, putting a bomb and sinking a ship like that and blocking a major naval trade route would give you much better high score (in the hypothetical game that you are playing) than bombing some random building. I just hope nobody tries that in real life!
There are a few reasons:Honestly it's pretty surprising that this hasn't happened until now.
Don't forget that drugs also come to Europe on container ships like that, and companies like Camorra are on much tighter deadlines than companies like Volkswagen. A few months long holdup on the cocaine supply line could cause chaos all over EuropeHonestly, all they'd really have to do is pull up near the canal in a Jeep and shoot an RPG at it and blow a hole in the side. They're in Egypt, after all. I'm sure there are a bunch of jihadis who have a bit of heavy weaponry in the area. Blow a hole in the side of the ship, and they can't even think about trying to move it because it will sink and block the canal until it can be disassembled, which would take 4 or 5 months.
I was actually thinking something like this earlier. This would be a really good time for a pissed off country to start a war. Supply lines are completely fucked now.
12% of global trade goes through that canal. But it's actually a much larger percentage of global trade. All of the component parts which are assembled in Europe and the US pass through that canal. So if, let's say, Volkswagon can't get the parts they need, they have to shut down. Pretty much all of the computer chips in the world are made in China, so this blockage cuts off ALL of those computer chips to Europe.
This is actually a Mega Happening. This thread should be in the Happenings section.
Here's some nightmare fuel for you:Don't forget that drugs also come to Europe on container ships like that, and companies like Camorra are on much tighter deadlines than companies like Volkswagen. A few months long holdup on the cocaine supply line could cause chaos all over Europe
Do you think this event could serve as the trigger for a stock market crash? I'm not well versed in economics but I've noticed that the dow has dipped a bit over the past few days, and there's been talk about a potential crash for months now.12% of global trade goes through that canal. I mean, the stock market is fake anyway, but it's a real possibility. They've always had ways of falsely propping up the stock market but I can't see how they could cover something like this up. If every car company in the world has to stop making cars because they can't get the parts they need, that's huge. If GE has to stop making home appliances because they can't get the parts they need, that's huge. Pretty much every industry in the North America and Europe is dependant on the parts they get from China and Taiwan.Do you think this event could serve as the trigger for a stock market crash?
Well that's still roughly 5 years of 24/7 travel, of god knows how many ships an hour, and it's just now that one gets stuck intentionally/unintentionally.There are a few reasons:
>they didn't have ships big enough to touch both banks of the canal until about five years ago
>you would have to be a literal retard to fuck up this badly with today's technology (or a woman, apparently -- I'm KIDDING)
The more I look into this, the more it looks like this might have been deliberate. The ship apparently lost power for over an hour while they were doing a slight course correction, which means the rudder was turned and pointed it into the shore.
An RPG literally wont do shit to a ship of that size. Now if someone were to stuff a few tons of explosives into a shipping container marked "steel beams" or somesuch, so that it gets loaded into bottom of cargo hold for weight distribution.... Things could get interesting.Honestly, all they'd really have to do is pull up near the canal in a Jeep and shoot an RPG at it and blow a hole in the side. They're in Egypt, after all. Apparently there was one case during 2017, but they cleared that in few hours.Well that's still roughly 5 years of 24/7 travel, of god knows how many ships an hour, and it's just now that one gets stuck intentionally/unintentionally.
