Technically, it is just a consequence of grammatical gender in Proto-Indo-European which was inherited by the Germanic languages but lost by English due to language contact between Vikings and Anglo-Saxons.Not only that, but "she" started being used precisely because people still needed to tell men and women apart. You could conceive alternate history where both pronouns merged into gender-neutral "he". If troons existed back then, they would reee about people using a word in a new way to violently gender people. Or they would reee that people don't validate their womanhood with the new feminine pronoun and instead use the gender-neutral one. They live to seethe.
He/She/It both descend from what is in a sense the same word just with the three Germanic genders. When grammatical gender in general was lost, it was preserved on this set of pronouns, presumably because it's very convenient. However, there's no reason that had to happen, it didn't happen in Persian which also lost its PIE-inherited grammatical gender ~2000ya and was left with a single third-person pronoun (او) for all animate things.
One wonders what obsession would've filled the pronoun hole, if English had gone that way.
Autism is associated with eating disorders as well, particularly anorexia nervosa and restrictive/avoidant eating disorders (ARFID). So, that means you're going to see a lot of FTMs with eating disorders just through that association. Moreover, those that do having eating disorders, esp. anorexia, are likely to have other mental health issues such as anxiety or depression. And both of those are separate risk factors for developing a gender-related obsession.Quite a few male troons (mostly HSTS from my experience) also suffer from eating disorders. Part of it stems from the fact that slim males are more likely to be perceived as women or able to pass more convincingly, and they're mentally ill, so it's not uncommon for them to have other mental illnesses in addition to their delusion of thinking they're women.
Also, a lot of FTMs seem to suffer from eating disorders as well, though usually their reasons is that by starving themselves is to try to get rid of their obvious curves and appear more boyish. A lot of their eating disorders however, seem as a way to cope with sexual abuse. Which, coincidentally, is why a lot of females troon out.
Another example of a "lesbian" suddenly becoming a "gay man":

She was, of course, always sexually inclined towards men, but for confused young (probably a little autistic) girls, sexual attraction is hard to pick out, not strongly felt and most importantly, her feeling that heterosexual relationships are vaguely degrading or at least ineffably off-putting.
The whole finding, the casual misandry of 'queer' social groups hurtful is kind of amusing as well. Not particularly masculine.
