I agree that trauma is a major factor. From staring into the abyss of the lesbian dating apps, my observation goes in this order:
MTF= Fetishism, mental illness, trauma response
FTM= Trauma response, mental illness, fetishism

Interesting theory, apart from this bit. Intersex is a problematic term for people with variations of sexual development for this very reason - that so many people conflate it with troonism and think that it means people can be some kind of "halfway house" between male and female.

It's not the case. People with VSDs are either male or female. A tiny proportion of them can't be sexed correctly in utero or at birth and need further investigation there and then. Most are diagnosed later either because of co-morbid complications caused by their condition or at puberty when things don't go as expected.

The rate of transexuals amongst people with VSDs is about the same as in the general population.

Absolutely agree, thank you for your correction! Intersex identities are arguably getting co-opted even more than gay folks by troons and you are right to call it out. All the folks I know with hormonal issues like PCOS have gone through some kind of gender identity crisis in their life, though, and im sure that will become a more common dilemma as this shit continues to get normalized.

I'd disagree though, giving a name to an condition doesn't necessarily glorify it (outside of echo-chamber munchie communities), but its a way to define a certain collection of symptoms. Not everyone going through a phase of denial goes so far as to completely change their identity... that comes from something more serious. Perhaps "disassociation from the self as a symptom of ptsd" would have been a better way of putting it?

I find it difficult to believe that these doctors were “missing” consultations. The only time I’ve ever heard o f a doctor missing something is when they are called in for an emergency and that’s not a common happening.

I know someone from one of my country's first programs -- so long ago he was on a list of about a dozen people allowed to go to the hospital and get it administered IV, which was briefly allowed in the early 80s though existing patients could continue to till they fucked up, inevitable under daily observation. One of the country's wealthiest families so he's eaten well, had a stress free life. His face kind of looks like Bruce Jenners a year before he came out. It is an extremely characteristic look once you have seen it a few times.

The staging on that first picture is soooo careful. Everything from the outfit to the backdrop to the seven pounds of caked on makeup and lighting and etc. has clearly been chosen to try to deemphasize masculine traits and emphasize the feminine. Notice how he wears a black turtleneck with a bright silver necklace over it to draw attention to the neck / center of the chest so you don't notice how wide his shoulders are? (Not to mention that turtleneck makes his neck look smaller and hides his adam's apple.) He's wearing high-waisted jeans and poses with one hip thrust out to create the illusion of broad hips when he's actually built like a square box. He's wearing dainty little bracelets and holding his hands away from his body and turned to the side so you can't tell how massive they are. He poses in front of a wide mirror and fireplace because the wider dimensions around him make him look smaller between them and the length of the mirror (stretching out of the picture) makes him look shorter. The blur on the face makes it clear that not only is he wearing a ton of makeup, but he's using a lot of photoshop to make his features smaller and his skin clearer.

All of that and you know that if you caught him in a candid, or in motion, or standing next to a real woman, the difference would be immediately obvious.

Just because Keira Bell felt that she didn't make the right choice and is detransitioning doesn't mean she is a "terrible human being" and "setting back" trans rights. If they honestly were intelligent, trans activists would self-reflect and honestly ask themselves and others "Is transitioning people honestly the best option? Wouldn't it be a good idea to expand on some therapy for people who struggle with gender dysphoria or other issues?" But no, anything that may challenge their own viewpoints and outlooks where people may actually not be in the best hands is "transphobic".

The trans appropriation of other people's struggles is my pet peeve, but their intrusion on intersex rights is probably the biggest example. It just blows my mind to hell and back that they managed to make Wikipedia list Erik Schinegger as trans because, after legitimately being assigned female at birth because of his androgen insensitivity, he chose to embrace his real sex. And while he could have passed for a remarkably ugly woman, he still looked very much like a male all his life (him on the left).

He returned his skiing medals and went on to live his best life. Meanwhile, Caster Semenya "is an intersex cisgender woman". No, he's an intersex transgender male. He has even less claim to be female than Erik does because what evidence I know of Caster's childhood had him going to school as a boy (Erik legitimately did not know he was male and I think that somehow his parents also didn't know).

Interestingly, despite supporting Caster Semenya he also opposes TiMs in women's sports. I guess that he just doesn't know all the details of Caster (best line from the Mirror article: "Caster- whose full name is an anagram of "Yes, a secret man" - is said to have no womb or ovaries but internal testicles")

Ngl I love the idea of a non-lgbt health resource for males getting infested with LARPing females, especially on such a sensitive subject that actually is incredibly difficult for the men dealing with it.

TIMs are constantly invading women’s health support resources for things like infertility and breast feeding and PCOS and such to LARP and demand attention and fear and female socialization means they get indulged.
