It happens more often than we think too. The big problem is that these sorts of relationships really did not exist before the advent of the internet, so a lot of parents don't even understand what their kids are engaging with, let alone the psychology of it - most parents are going to understand, objectively, that a kid having a crush on a much older celebrity is fairly normal and doesn't generally lead to any sort of unscrupulous behavior. What they don't understand, though, is that nowadays those celebrities are much more accessible than ever before, and e-celebs know it, too, meaning they can take advantage of it. It's a huge failing of internet culture; monitoring the behavior of your kids is next to impossible now.

Hard agree. Ray and Michael were the ones to encourage their fans to go and harass that blog FeministRT, and that wasn't THAT long ago - it must've been somewhere in 2014, as it would've been around the time people started caring about the politics of their e-celebs, but too early in for that mentality to have any social power yet. At the end of the day, RT is a company and all of the cast members are at work, and at work you have to suck it up and do or say whatever you need to do and say to keep the money coming. If they need to pretend they care about social justice and left-leaning politics to please their largely left-leaning fanbase, then absolutely! "Do as I say and not as I do," as the saying goes.

I'm not going to say that there aren't likely some left-leaning cast and crew members at RT, because they are based in one of the more liberal cities in Texas, but I don't think anything RT as a company has done can be considered anything but performative. (Except the charity streams; I do have respect for those.)

Very early on, there was mention of one minor by the account @brotherxteresa; they said that the minor in question wasn't going to speak out publicly as they were saving their info for a potential court case. No clue if it was true at all, or if that minor hasn't already come forward (since this was before the first major accusation, Tessa, so it could've been her or Michelle), but if it IS true, then I'd imagine Ryan already lawyered up in advance.
