The soy face is them trying to imitate joy in a way that is wholly unnatural. Happiness and joy causes people to smile not make an oh face.
The "oh" face is made more when people gasp, something that is reserved for shock not happiness. On top of just being the wrong facial emote it would not naturally last long enough for a selfie.
So you're basically spot on. It's one of those things for people that arent completely fake and deranged where you may not immediately notice it but your brain does.

I could be wrong, but Trump's MO isn't to duck the media. He takes them head on. If he ducks out of the rest of the debates, its because he's still got the flu. He can do them virtually. But he knows that gives Biden the advantage since can have a teleprompter and aids. Not that it'll be of any help since he still fucks up even with all the handicaps in the world.
If Trump doesn't go to the rest of the debates, it's not gonna hurt him. He's already getting his message out there. Thata the point. Biden is the one whose message is still unknown and unclear. Itll hurt the dems more than Trump.

I dunno. It's not like I study this shit academically. It was just the vibe I got from all the soyboys trying to recreate the "Nintendo 64!!!" video when their wives boyfriends bought them Switches.
Either they were trying to show they were extremely happy, in which case it looked fake and dumb. Or they actually *were* trying to show shock and awe but didn't realize that looks fake and dumb and creepy in a set up, still photograph.
I could believe it's just thirsty dudes with no social skills just mimicking shit they see too though.
