I don't think that Shoe was approaching this relationship from a "IT Couple" or "Youtube thing" as she was always in a much better place than Greg was socially. If that was her aim, she probably could have aimed a fair bit higher than him.
Greg probably was into it for a while - Shoe was famous and not horrific looking, weird and kinky. He got a career boost and got to delve into some deviancy at the same time. It seems like he was never likely into it for the "long haul", which is understandable. A long distance relationship centered on kink/youtube has a very small shelf life. There's only so much kinky sexting that you participate in before you get bored in Greg's case start low-key texting trannies.
