The reason why he wouldn't hire other programmers is the same reason his code sucks: ego.It does make me wonder that yes, obviously Alex is bad at coding and even he admitted he wasn't a very good coder either (apart from doubling down and saying about how "if-else" and "switch case" are different styles whatever shit that is) and this is why he relied on volunteers (as far as I know, he did say that 90% of the stuff wouldn't be in the game if it wasn't for his volunteers), but the question is instead of trying to delay yourself so long just to solve some issues and as well as trying to figure out about more features you would add, why can't he just do the crowdfunding campaign much earlier and hire professional programmers to do the job much faster? When the game was at its peak of popularity that would be a perfect time for you to start a crowdfunding campaign to finish all the rivals instead of spending 6 years adding some shit and wondering how would Osana would be fleshed out. If you want to add these new features you thought of, just add them as DLC or something. If anything, the prototype sandbox build way back then during its height and peak of popularity even without Osana is good enough to make people think the concept and idea was interesting at its time compared with right now after like years late.
Also meh, I can understand how people not liking TRO's video for being too fence-sitting which is understandable, but I still enjoyed it especially for his critiques.
Anyway, new blogpost for new update:

This isn't about making a polished, fun game for people - this is about being Alex affirming that he's good enough. Criticism, to Alex, proves the opposite. It means he's fucking up. Having to hire people would be even worse for him. While I haven't been watching the thread too closely, I would assume he has no interest in releasing the game because that means everyone has a chance to finally evaluate him and what he's made. While it's unreleased, he can justify the poor quality to himself and that's all that matters.
Instead of hiring other programmers, what he ought to do is anything else but this game. He should be immersing himself in other people's work and attempt to match consistency. Honestly, he should try contributing to open-source projects. As silly as that sounds, the communities around those projects are very likely to reject his work and explain what's wrong with it, opening a line of dialogue that would be helpful and give him more opportunities to see how problems are solved.
Of course, that would only work if he actually gave a shit and wanted to be a better programmer, but that's not his goal.
