Hey guys I’m super new to the DSP saga/lore but man is this such an interesting daily train wreck! Anyways I just saw this thread on Reddit that claims his bankruptcy case was dismissed? Anyone know if thats true? Thanks for keeping me entertained during quarantine!

Welcome to the club and bluntly no it was not dismissed, it was turned into an asset cast and due to that it's no longer for subject to the conditions for a standard dismissal. Matter of fact it's worse than dismissal because Nancy's allowed to itemize and scrutinize anything the ol' Pigroach owns, received from the wheelchairs and what he spent it on.

I think Phil doesn't give answers because he's afraid of being labeled a nerd. It's the same reason he doesn't want to get invested in video game stories, or appear scared during horror games. Phil has always been out of touch with reality, but even in his pre-hermit days, he was pretty obsessed with being seen as the "cool" guy. But, he bases most of what he knows off of 80's movies/sitcoms. He doesn't realize that stuff which was considered lame/niche/geeky in the past has more or less entered the mainstream.

I think it ties into his whole not romancing someone in a videogame thing. That used to be the punchline to jokes about the loser nerd character back in the day, with them falling in love with a video game character or making a robot girlfriend or whatever. For Phil, it is even worse because he can't really separate himself from the character in a game. He treats every character like it is a self-insert. That's why with the FF7 thing, he was so upset with Cloud crossdressing, because in his mind, he felt like the game was making him as a person crossdress/at least admit to liking it. It bothered him so much that it was clearly weighing on his mind because he was making warning tweets about it several days before it even happened.

I'd wager it's why he doesn't talk about wrestling, since that was/arguably still is something you're looked down on for enjoying. In Phil's very limited world view, he'd probably associate it with movie/sitcom characters who believe it is actually real. Since those characters are normally called losers, Phil avoids talking about it. Even when he does, he tries to play it off as him not being invested, even though it's one of the few times he actually seems to care about a subject. And to his credit, even people here were saying it was a breath of fresh air compared to his normal dull and otherwise silent streams.

Phil himself even sometimes shows this "logic" by mocking people in the rare times he isn't blaming lag or his connection or whatever. He'll insinuate they are basement dwelling virgin losers who just spend all day mastering a game. Or insulting people for taking games too seriously, aka showing the least amount of investment. It is especially baffling/hypocritical when you consider Phil's past as a competitive streetfighter player on top of him streaming video games for 10+ years.

To top it off, Phil in general has a really weird fear of bullies, which I think extends past the usual detractor stuff. We know he's a coward, but something that really stood out to me was that tweet he made/prestream rambling about his first time shopping in the pandemic. It kinda got buried under everything else he was droning on about, but there was a part where he mentioned how he was expecting to be beat up/get into a fight at the store. I think this is the same view he has about his "nerdy" side. He thinks if people thought he was a geek for liking video games too much/knowing about comics and wrestling or whatever else, he'll be that sad loser kid he sees in the movies, who gets beat up by the jock character and just in general mocked by everyone else.

Friendly reminder: Dsp expend most of his time locked inside a room yelling and rocking back and forth in front of a webcam. This guy has serious mental issues.

Hey. Someone posted about the same Reddit rumour on Thursday. Apparently a "lawyer in training" misunderstood what the deadline after the Creditor's Meeting meant... or something. The articles he was confused about are posted here. (The OP in that thread's kept well up-to-date if yer look'n for a summary of everything that's happened 🤓)

Agree, and I find it terribly ironic that the guy who clearly wanted to be seen as cool and tough choose to stream video games for a living.

Hate to tell you this Phil but that's something nerds do.

Maybe this is why he hates people like PDP and Ninja because they end up portrayed as "cool guys" and he isn't so it just frustrates the hell out of him. He's even said in recent streams that he wants people to take him and his advice seriously,

He's even said in recent streams that he wants people to take him and his advice seriously,
That being the case he probably ought to rethink things like putting on a vest for money and swinging wildly between refusing to even touch a controller and giggling like a stoned grade schooler (based entirely on how many tips, not subs or cheers, he's gotten in the last half hour) while he's on stream.

He could be broadcasting from a hospital bed, nasal cannula and IV in place, saying "guys, I think I might be in trouble, dood" and I'd take him precisely as seriously as I do now.

Goin’ back in time to ask how the fuck did Phil beat King Kut-Out in DK64? I cannot beat that boss for the life of me, the last phase moves way too fast. Is it easier on Wii U?

Canning is both easy and hard. He'd fuck around and get botulism, although I'm not sure if tomato sauce is acidic enough to prevent it if canning isn't done right. Regardless, he should be doing this, both to make it easier for him in the future and so he can get a few days worth of sauce ready in one day.
Pfff, what are you, stupid? He already spent 5+ hours making his fresh tomato paste infusion mixture and now you expect him to put it in mason jars and boil even more water just to preserve the freshness when he already painstakingly preserved it with garlic salt? Don't you think he's done enough work? Just put it in the freezer so you can have nice salty tomato Popsicles on-demand like Phil does:
Edit: Wait, Phil lived there for 3 months and didn't know he had that top drawer in his freezer? *sigh* goddamnit Phil. . .

Of course he didn't. DSP Tries It was just one item in a long list of "filming mundane activity" trends that he half-assedly chased in an effort to squeeze out more from his ridiculous Machinima contract back in the day (the dissolution of which is absolutely the reason why we no longer see any of them). Same with unboxing videos and, lest we miss the greater point, they all failed due to the shared factor of being done by a man who'd leave his autonomic functions for someone else to do if he could.

I'll just leave this fifteen-minute long video of a video game unboxing in which the box is never opened right here and say "the prosecution rests".

The fire alarm in the background always kills me.

That's actually (lol) part of the point I was trying to make but maybe muddled it up too much. If he were actually secure and not abnormal, he'd just say, "fuck it, I like Hulk." And maybe give an explanation like you said. And I could see two things happening... 1.) The detractor community or at least the more exceptional of the detractors, would possibly make memes and shit. Or 2.) No one gives a fuck and we all go about our day with still tons of material to point and laugh at.

But then the next question is what does he do with those options? And what is he imagining will happen? I'm sorry if I sound like I'm trying to play 4d chess here, but if 1.) happened, he'd be all pissy and upset but try to hide it, because we ruined his Hulkies. And maybe he predicted that would happen, and he'd have reason to never release any new information on his likes/dislikes. Maybe that's already happened and that's where I get this idea from.

But how likely is it that Phil thinks 2.) would happen? At this point, how likely is it that Phil really doesn't care what we all think, and would tell us he likes The Hulk? Then follow that with the likelihood that the community would do nothing with the information.

I'm not sure I'm making sense. There's a nebulous idea I thought would be interesting to discuss but I'm clearly too hungry to flesh the idea out into words.

I just.. I know he's lazy as fuck and wants people to shut up and pay him and all that, but for some reason I think his inability to answer simple questions goes somewhere else. Maybe because I can be hella lazy, but if you ask me a question about something I'm interested in, I get excited to talk about it, and it does not compute that he doesn't forget he's lazy and talk about something he's interested in for a minute.

I also know how his chat is Nazi Germany where you must only talk about Phil and the gameplay, and not derail the stream, and the gameplay is supposed to be the entertainment, he's not here to dance like a monkey for you, or answer "stupid" questions. And that's from being too lazy to put effort into actually being entertaining with a personality. I dunno.

I'm gonna go eat something now. I wanna make some kind of Phil reference/joke about that but I can't think of a good one.
He answers questions like that because he's bored and wants to get out of there. Imagine if you asked a guy filling out a form in a hospital waiting room which superhero he liked the best? He'd say "Huh? I don't know, can you fuck off? I'm busy." That's the same attitude Phil has when someone who looks up to him gives him money and wants ten seconds of interaction.

He just complained about people tipping using different names than their chat names. He DAILY tells people they can tip him anonymously and DON'T USE YOUR REAL NAME, but then whines when they actually do.
I'm sure Tainticker or Stickybutthole isn't going to be doxed as "Jeffery Jackson" unless they use that name for everything. It is pretty dumb either-way because Phil still gets your personal info either way, regardless if you don't attach your personal Twitter username. Most of them like Superblindman get off to the fact that the chat is saying "Woah! Did you see that? THE superblindman from the chat and his personal Twitch channel is tipping Phil 35 dollars!" If his viewers use a fake-name then they don't get that recognition from the rest of the chat and then they have to use that name over and over no matter how stupid it is. For him to complain about people using different name is hilarious because he stresses every pre-stream by saying "PLEASE don't use your real name cause there is a lot of evil and malicious people out there"

It is pretty stupid he keeps up this facade that he gives a shit about his fans and their personal information being leaked because you know he would throw them under a bus or post all the troll tippers dox in a heart beat if he could.

holy shit his ac stream has to be the worst stream i`ve seen so far. he basically just runs around looking for what his wife, kat, has done to the city.
I don't know how anyone can watch his weekend night streams with AC and Morrowind. They are the most boring shit. It's like Phil is testing how far he can push the lowest quality stream he can while still getting paid.

Two decades ago. And it's literally the Al Bundy "I scored 4 TDs in high school once" idea that is a stereotype because people haven't accomplished shit in their entire adult lives.

Same thing with "I used to be a bodybuilder in high school/college" and bench pressed 365 for reps!"

He has no more muscle to flex regarding impressive milestones throughout the decades he has squandered on being alive than he has muscle mass in his physical body, so he spacker-spews his few mediocre achievements (none of which have taken place in the last 16 years), spins those into cancer cures, play-pretends some fictional ones, & caps it all out with a reminder that he's better/smarter than you.

But he's really just Uncle Rico. Lobbing footballs in a grain field at no one with a VHS handicam on a tripod while he laments about how he "could've gone All-State".

He's Al Bundy, talking about his days back in Polk High.

And my man Tyrion summarizes DSP in one simple sentence:

Wolverine with a vest tipped $30 and he hits the vest goal and is ranting and raving about his keyboard.

I was wondering who the savior of the night would be

I've never seen DSP THAT drunk tonight; massive rants, slurring/squinting, clown mode.

He hits the bottle hard there's no doubt about it.

Guess we should be watching the docket this week. He was cranky last week too before the amendment dropped.
