It's not even like they're much competition. The "best" audition was a dude with a deep voice (who is now Robert's voice). Pitiful.

Yeah, I hate how many people aren't even trying to modify their voice for the role, especially the ones with deep voices.

Honestly, DA and YouTube isn't the best place to look for VO talent. Places like VAA (Voice Acting Alliance), VAC (Voice Acting Club), and various VO groups on facebook are better. Otherwise, the talent pool doesn't always contain "talent."

THAT - is exactly what happened - I'm sure he would have done that with any popular show on Tumblr/DeviantArt/whatever fresh hell you can think of right now that he stupidly obsesses over... I know I'm pointing out the obvious, but that's what's clear and should be as such by now.

Now Timmy sounds like a 16 year old girl. I guess this almost counts as improvement being as though he's no longer a manchild with a bad microphone.
I wonder what was the thought process that went into choosing this one above anything else.

It's a case study about why Deviant Art is a terrible space to do something like this. Any good piece of media requires craft. I don't think Mr Enter really understands what it takes to make something like gravity falls or adventure time. It takes real effort, experience and collaboration with other talented people.

If he'd pursued further education he could have considered stronger ideas and found the right people to work with. The shoddy voice auditions are just a symptom of how little experience or knowledge Enter has.

I know that this person probably isn't a professional VA, but in my opinion the voice almost brought out less character in Timmy. If that's even possible.

The fuck? Even I could have pulled the voice off better. I can actually do a (somewhat) natural youthful voice and it'd sound a thousand times better that the screech they settled on.
