Its one thing for those of us here in the west to wish freedom and the like on other countries like Russia, but I don't think it will ever happen, mainly because I don't believe the Russians actually want it. I think you would be surprised how many of them pine for a Stalin to come back. I know I was when I found it out.
I had a professor tell me once that no matter how it is dressed or what they call it:
"Russia will always have a Czar, Persia will always have a Shah, China will always have an Emperor, and France will go back and forth between Kings and Robespierres."
And looking at it I am inclined to agree with that, except for France. Id add Louis XVI's to his assesment. France does have its share of incompetent weaklings running the show from time to time.
The point is that no matter what they say the Russian people are a culture that is broken to the yoke of autocracy and absolutism. Liberalism isn't a thing they grasp, and no matter who becomes leader over there they alwys eventually slide into the Czar role.
