What he doesn't understand is that Trump doesn't need to get a left leaning moderate to vote for him, he just needs to make them so turned off by Warren's dishonesty to not show up at all. He doesn't need that vote; it'll be enough that Warren doesn't get it. For sure, he'll win by more if they vote for him, but he'll still win regardless if they don't vote at all because rest assured the GOP base will show.

So I'd rather they not show up at all. Because even if they vote for Trump, they'll still probably vote Democrat down ballot. And since Trump won't need that vote anyway, I don't want it going to a Dem in the House or Senate.

I think it worked in reverse for the GOP in 2016. A lot of people who didn't like Trump still showed up to vote because Gary Johnson was on the ballot. So they voted for him and then GOP the rest of the way down. Obviously that didn't hurt Trump for the White House and helped in the Congressional races. Without someone else on the right to vote for as an alternative, I'm not sure a lot of those people would have even showed at all.
