This probably isn't a great explanation because I haven't read about this stuff in ages, but it reminds me a lot of Nietzsche's slave morality. The woke brigade look at the world and see the most successful people as bold, ambitious, risk-taking high-achievers. Because they know they cannot compete in that arena, they adopt a subversive alternative morality. Slave morality demonizes the characteristics they don't have (like courage and self-worth), and instead celebrates things like pity and "fair play."
If you like, you can picture me rolling my eyes while I do sarcastic airquotes around "fair play."

Isn’t this just turning the fundies’ obsession with using the Bible as justification for their policy views around and using it against them though? If they’re gonna try to use the Bible for reasons we should do what they say it’s fair game to point out when their views don’t line up with the Bible.

Personally I’d rather the Bible (or Quran, book of Confucius, Torah, baghavadghita, whatever) never be mentioned in policy debates but that’s not gonna happen overnight

Trump just has a unique ability to make people reveal their true selves. Calling a spade a spade will do that.

It's the basic antidote to all positive growth within and without a person: resentment. The worst part being it's not limited to them.

The case could be made that Republicans and Democrats both royally screw-up the Bible to justify their respective policies. However, Republicans/right-wingers tend to do so from a position of faith, whereas Democrats/leftists tend to do so as a means of attacking "fundies." As some have pointed out, leftists tend to select a few passages from the Bible out of their context to show how hypocritical conservative Christians are without a shred of irony. For example, the "social justice" aspects of the Old Testament were not just criticism of capitalism run a muck, but also the practice of sacrificing their children to Baal, Molech, and similar deities. In other words, a form of "abortion." The Bible connects temporal injustice with spiritual decay. In other words, the God who condemns usury condemns degeneracy.
