I'd love to believe he's going to federal prison but so far it's been a lot of "My friend who knows a guy who knows a guy" kind of talk and no evidence to go off of. I know there have been a lot of talk about him getting caught with child pornography, but I haven't seen anything yet.So I saw this image floating around and snagged it. Honestly the one thing I'm worried about is every artist just moving to twitter. Shit there really aren't many alternatives to FA that are still kicking and the ones that do have a lot of weight sagging on them that most people don't want to deal with. Inkbunny with the cub porn, furry network being linked to Varka (and nobody fuckin uses it), weasyl exists and I don't hear much about it honestly, just that it's around and people use it.
Furries will just move to twitter primarily and that will just be worse for everybody. I hate FA as much as the next guy but I'd like there to be an extremely solid alternative in place first and not have furries be 100% social media cancer.

It is fun reading up on them. I mean I hate to knock on trannies every time but every single fuckin' time I see someone make a hard turn into crazy town they are almost always coincidentally a tranny. There comes a point where I just have to start secretly questioning people when that fact comes to light because it has become so common, at least from my experience.
As for the bail question, it's possible and probably likely that it would increase from 40k because 40k seems pretty damn low for a federal case regarding anything in pedophilia cases. When a case moves up the court system it moves to a new judge who has the power to raise the bail amount to whatever limit there is for that circuit. Which for a fun fact, theoretically it's possible for him to get 40k in bail money, then after the fact have it be raised by a judge to a new amount and he better cough up the cash or he's going right back in. Nonetheless right now the bail amount hasn't changed and inputting his information into federal inmate databases isn't pulling shit up so at this very moment no it seems unlikely it is a federal case.

FurAffinity is back up and unsurprisingly the cause was their shit tier database code, and their fix is to purge unread notifications older than a year.
A new furry site would have to both gain acceptance with ever more critical furries and become the same "commission hub" that FurAffinity became known for. Lots of furries make accounts there just to browse art and commission art especially if they're not a fan of the "art in between 20 orange man bad posts" model that Twitter is known for. Even if FurAffinity lacks features and is held together with tape, it's one of the few mainstream community focused furry art sites (and arguably adult art sites in general considering how it has plane porn and the like).
FurAffinity is to furry art sites what someone like DSP is to lolcows. There have been jokes both here and outside the farms about how DSP manages to outlive other content creators and lolcows somehow after things that should have killed his career (the fapping incident comes to mind). FurAffinity is the same way, not even a source code leak or password dump that ended up on haveibeenpwned could make the site become irrelevant.

I think what's worth mentioning about Aark is that he's a classic case of some furry switching political sides when it's convenient. He used to be a GamerGate supporter, now he whines at people he sees as Nazis and trolls online. Aark also is a rabid Sisk attack dog who defends Sisk against those trolls and people who question the story.

I mean, you definitely aren't wrong and the DSP comparison makes total sense. And they are both associated with masturbation so that checks out too. But yeah as shit as it is I enjoy the "goal" of furaffinity and I do worry that if it crashes and burns that people won't go to one of the better galleries but just stick to twitter or whatever the equivalent of tumblr will be in 5 years. Because so many artists have a mighty, fierce need to make sure that their opinions are heard by everyone and fuck you if you think otherwise.

There's also the fact that an actual competator to FA will probably be the only thing to actually force them to get their shit together. There is no reason to update FA because wheres everyone gonna go; Their only real competitor in terms of functionality is DeviantArt, and even it's userbase has been dying off over the past few years thanks to social media. Which is baffling since both of these sites are way better for hosting and sharing artwork than twitter or whatever else.
Maybe its time to just old yeller FA and end it's suffering.

I have an account that has accumulated over 2 million notifications (to have fun with this very issue with FurAffinity), and they haven't purged any non-submission notifications as far as I can tell.
They also said they planned on removing old notifications YEARS ago and they never did.
As long as they keep using this shit code, this problem is going to persist.

You have to click on each one of those notifications to see an individual image, comment, or journal, and when you have thousands of those to look at, it's a waste of time when you could just use an endless scrolling method like Tumblr or Twitter. Tumblr purged all the NSFW so now it's just Twitter, which is in my opinion utter shit for art due to the file compression and the site's unfriendly interface. At least DeviantArt has a core membership so you can view stuff without having to click on each tiny thumbnail, something FA could have used instead of shilling out to IMVU, but FA has the laziest site coders ever.
