Victor Mignogna v. Funimation Productions, LLC, et al. (2019) - Vic's lawsuit against Funimation, VAs, and others, for over a million dollars.

I thought states were imitating CA when they did it. It's one of those dumb things people see and imitate but I think it is generally neither necessary nor even a good idea. It's supposed to be for defendants who you know to exist but do not know their actual names at present, presumably to find out later.

A lot of times you will see a plaintiff throw in these dumb Doe defendants and then not even mention them in the complaint.

And federal courts just completely ignore them if you remove the case from a state court to federal court. Who are these people? Where are they? Nome, Alaska? The Moon? What did they do? Cast a voodoo curse on you? They're apparently invisible, as they're not alleged to have actually done anything.

I rarely see these things properly used. I think they just make you look like a crazy person suing invisible people nobody can see for who knows what.

Like twitch suing Artifact troll streamers and complaining that they had to do their jobs and not make their website be absolute shit in their complaint for damages lmao.
They’re lucky the subpoenas they sent out for information on said John Does we’re mainly to other CA companies.

So, does this mean that discovery went well, or are we still expecting any motions to compel discovery?

I believe you mean interrogitory requests (requests for documents) -- and we don't know. Probably won't find out until they have to compel it. The actual discovery is the end of next week.

But yeah. Expect desperate hail Mary passes and gay ops aplenty on the evening of June 26th, including a possible TCPA motion on June 27th.

Seems less likely they will file the TCPA before the depositions now that they filed to extend the deadline. Would be pretty obvious that it was done to abuse the system and piss off the judge.

As for Panty and Stocking, that and her letting people spank her in public is really going to contradict any weak story she tries to bring up to say that Vic acted inappropriately at cons. If a High School Host Club joke reenactment and jelly bean consumption are inappropriate but those aren't, good luck trying to argue it.

Simply put: she has no convincing stories of Vic acting inappropriately, not even from other people. Even fans who have had pictures taken out of context by the KickVic side have stated that nothing inappropriate happened.

Doesn't matter, they'll just block the judge on twitter. Don't you know they're on the right side of history? Besides the judge is a straight white male, that means he's probably a nazi and you can ignore nazis.

Nah, I'm fully expecting a most epic of spergouts on ... Wait. Will the deposition transcript be filed and available to read on June 26th? Or is there a delay on these things?

AGREED MOTION TO EXTEND TIME TO FILE MOTION TO DISMISS

The depositions dates are in there as well,

June 26 - Vic
June 27 - Ron
June 28 - Monica

FigOps are afoot, fully expecting a TCPA, Casey you better have a damn good reason for lying to the court when you do file one.

They’ll probably leak as much as they can as soon as they can, luckily they’re happening at the courthouse which means they have a judge to rule on the record right away. If anything that wasn’t supposed to get out gets out, there’s only one place it could have came from, correlation is damn good enough to a judge to see right through that bullshit.

AGREED MOTION TO EXTEND TIME TO FILE MOTION TO DISMISS
"...and will promote judicial economy in avoiding any further motion practice concerning these agreed depositions"

Fucking lol. That was definitely written by Ty Beard.

So basically, the way this worked is that Casey and Ty talked it over and came to an agreement. Ty drafted the document, signed it, and sent it over to Casey, who confirmed that it's what they had agreed on, then he also signed it and he filed it.
Wait. Will the deposition transcript be filed and available to read on June 26th? Or is there a delay on these things?
The deposition transcripts won't be filed until and unless they're filed as evidence - or leaked, but I don't think Ty would do that unless MoRon did so first.

Don't get your hopes up too much. The full transcripts might never be available; they may only file the pertinent sections that they want to use as evidence. Anything that isn't needed can be clipped out or redacted.

Of course, after the shenanigans that MoRon have already pulled, I wouldn't really be surprised by just about anything. It's pretty likely that they still plan on leaking info from Vic's deposition and I'm sure Ty won't let them get away with it without retaliating.

Interesting to note, Vic will have to be in California June 28-30 for Super World Con in San Jose. He'll be cutting it close, and I hope he bounces back from a stressful event like a deposition.

Does Vic even have to be there for Ron's and Monica's disposition?
Considering it's a Q&A I don't really see Vic needing to be there tbh.

He doesn't need to be, no, but depositions can still put a damper on your mood. Can only hope if Casey treats Vic like Trash BHBH does the same to MoRon.

If they try out of context bullshit Ty can always retort with the full depositions.

No, and other parties usually aren't there. In general, nobody who isn't being paid to be in a deposition wants anything to do with one.

Man, after watching some Texas depos, this could be a wild three days with much bickering between lawyers.

Speaking of transcripts, Have the transcripts from the original court hearing been made available yet or are we still going by what Ty said and the person who was there alone?

I wonder if Monica will be at Ron’s and if Ron will be at Monica’s

I wouldn't be too worried about Vic in a deposition. Someone from BHBH will probably walk him through some of it just to give him an idea of what it's like and what to expect. He probably has a good idea of what Monica and Ron have told Casey to bring up as well so he can prepare for it pretty well.

The other thing is that for Vic, sitting down at a table and talking for up to six hours is just like any day at a con and we've seen that he not only puts in full days but regularly goes without any bathroom breaks or even stays late so that everyone who got in line can get to talk with him.

Monica might do okay for similar reasons, but I think she has a much harder time explaining all of the inconsistencies in her stories and all of the other bullshit. Ron is completely fucked. This is the kind of guy who needs to put up little notes at work telling him how to act like a normal human being around other people. He isn't going to last twenty minutes in a deposition before he starts falling to pieces.
