It was mostly those texts from Todd that made people think he was bashing Vic behind his back, but their friendship seems comfortable enough that they make fun of each other a lot so I'm leaning towards Todd being in Vic's corner.

And what exactly were those texts? I never saw them, just heard about them. I wasnt following this very closely at the beginning.

I honestly don't think he's going to be the lawyer for either of them very long. That conflict of interest shit (unmarried couple that might have to testify against one another) is going to be hard to square at some point. That's even before we consider how much Ron and Monica has fucked his ability to defend either of them.

I predict that he might handle some of the initial shit, and then he'll have to refer them to somebody outside his firm and file a motion to withdraw as counsel.

Some people here seem to fundamentally misunderstand the Wiedenheft story.

The police did not randomly kick down his door and find child porn on his (allegedly) second hand HD. That doesn't happen, because they need probable cause to suspect him and execute a search of his computer.

The state's narrative is that he offered to share the files with others, and as a result of that, his IP was traced by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE). Naturally, FDLE got a warrant. Then they did a search. Then they busted his ass.

Sarah's story about a second-hand HD is dumb, because even in the extremely unlikely chance that's how he initially came into possession of the files, the state was tipped off by his attempt to share them.

"Hey guys, there's some CP on this old HD I bought. Anybody want it?"

Sarah is not being genuine.

Even her shit about the public defender is somewhat disingenuous. Fun fact is that he tried to claim indigence on $40,000/yr income (to qualify for representation by the public defender). That was rejected (see below). He's not using a public defender because the court has determined he's got the money to afford his own attorney.

Nick is a criminal defense attorney. Even though he's pro-Vic, I don't think he has a lot of love for prosecutors. He'd have no compunction with saying charges levied by the state are bullshit. I think Nick clearly thinks Bradley is legitimately boned on this one though, and it's not hard to see why.

Yes. It doesn't matter if he successfully shared it or not. Simple possession of CP is a crime. He's charged with four counts of possession.

The "attempted sharing" gave them the in to get a warrant and prove the possession. The attempting sharing also torpedoes Sarah's story that he was oblivious to the existence of the files. Did the files gain sentience and attempt to share themselves?

Also the P2P sharing thing is Sarah's side of the story. The state has simply said he attempted to share.

That wouldn't be unusual. You'd ask for a continuance in that scenario, and the judge usually grants it if you haven't been delaying a bunch already.

That would maybe suggest an alternate explanation for why Todd was removed from Free!.. But it would not explain the timing for Vic's name being removed from the Broly DVD. I don't think there's any way you convince me there isn't a link with this shit storm. Funimation has control of what names go on that stuff.
