What, you guys don't draw by punching your tablet into submission?

Maybe you guys just need more gym badges, I haven't had any issues with mine since I caught it

She obviously doesn't draw every day, so she's probably forgotten proper form.

I think that's part of what drives me mad about all this. People like Jess and Labelle have all day every day to draw their own stuff and improve whereas most of us are stuck drawing what someone else wants to fufill their art based goals.
If I could collect a cheque to draw my own shit in my own style and answer to no one, well, I can only imagine how my own artistic style would improve and evolve.
Instead these guys sit around and, I dunno, get angry at the internet all day. It's like watching someone be handed everything you wish you had in your life and then just shit on it.
I'm not angry, it's just disheartening to watch.

Oh no, I agree with you (am a professional too) it's just very odd how they showed their bruising coming from doing their art. Like. What the hell are they doing? Gripping a pencil too hard? Get some gloves, Jess!
I get mildly sore hand and/or arm when I’m using different tools than I’m used like a new tablet with larger screen or oil painting after long break. I have to really think how I’m moving my hand and be more careful to get results I’m looking for. It’s like getting sore muscles after new exercises. As long as I let my hand rest between sessions but keep up practicing it’s pretty effortless eventually. Plus some stretches and weight training for my shoulders and back. So eather Jess isn’t drawing enough to keep in shape or there is something seriously wrong with their body.

So, based on the admittedly minimal research I've done, it seems that increased bruising and bleeding is actually a fairly typical symptom of HRT. The skin thins significantly, reducing the cushioning that capillaries and veins receive against trauma.

It's actually possible that Jess is getting bruising from overusing those areas. That being said, it calls for not trying to do a bunch of work in binge-mode, but spreading it out more, and considering more ergonomic approaches.

That's pretty interesting, actually.

My personal theory is that Jess does everything at once in full-on bursts rather than taking the time to spread their art in places that make sense. The best way to work is to spend time on each thing you need to do for certain intervals, maybe take a short break, and move onto the next thing that needs to get done.

The comics, commissions, etc. I assume they didn't realize how much work can pile up super quickly, so they scramble to get things done. And as a result, she somehow gets bruises. Maybe it's a result of horrible form, posture etc, whatever. The point is that it's really jarring to mention that stuff in a comic as normal, when in reality plenty of artists stress proper form to avoid stuff like that.

And considering what Jess revealed about their personal life and having trouble keeping things in order I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case.

This is a lot of analysis for shit Jess may have just exaggerated a wee smidgeon of a bit.

It's called self-sabotage. Their ego gets in the way of their own success even when all the answers are staring them in the face. Watching shows like Kitchen Nightmares is a good example of it. You got a world-class chef paying the owners to help get their shitty restaurant up and running and going out of his way to point out what they're doing wrong and what they can do to succeed, and a good chunk of them sperg out at him and throw ego-bruised hissy fits rather than be grateful for the money, help and knowledge.

Jessica actually has a job. I think Labelle and Bria are the ones relying solely on Patreon.

Kinda funny how the only one with a job easily trumps the two who have limitless time to hone their craft. Jess reads this and sees nothing but hate, but really, Jess has legitimate talent that would exist regardless of her priority on the LGBT rainbow, whereas a dolt like Bria couldn't make a good comic if his life depended on it.

Jess really should be grateful for this thread, we're probably the best audience you can get seeing as we're willing to call out the shit whilst praising the genuinely good.

Trans Day of Visibility means Jess actually did some work to get a comic out yesterday.

Also, TDoV led to someone doing fanart that wasn't one of our edits. Strangely, they too have hand cramp problems :story:

I think this Nightmare Girls has a problem it really can't overcome.

If you're that much of a loser, I don't care about your opinions.
