Well, you have a point there. I don't think they'll retcon the entire movie, but they will proceed addressing it as little as possibl. Rose will still be around, someone might remark on Holdo or whatever, but overall, they will try to leave it by the wayside and keep silent about it. Luckily, Ruin Johnsin didn't leave anything to work with, so there are no loose ends to tie up or to connect to.
LF is in a really awkward position where they can't piss off the few fans of TLJ (if they even exist, I assume most of the defenders of that POS are more interested in virtue signaling on Twitter than in TLJ), but they have to gently nudge the franchise back onto the tracks of appealing to old fanboys, so they have to disown TLJ publically, since that was the big desaster that put them at odds with the crowd.
So, while they can't go "TLJ never happened", they still have to retcon a few things about it that the old fans are unhappy with... or so you'd think.
Most likely, they'll just attempt to coast through, trying to stirr up as little shit as possible... and that will fail spectacularly.

And Mark Hamill uses the same kind of look on his face as when he was guzzling space-cow milk.
I really hope they don't try to court the TLJ crowd with this film, and would be happier if they trashed most of it. Seeing them go nuts over it would be outstanding, especially if they're made to take their own medicine for giving SW fans the exact same counterproductive defence.

I only wish I could have witnessed the grovelling "PLEASE COME AND FIX OUR MOVIE MISTER LUCAS!" pitch after all the smugness about how disney and nu-lucasfilm were "saving the franchise after lucas destroyed it"

Its a hilariously major fuckup on Disney's part that would be completely illogical for even their most faithful adherents to defend, as such I'm looking forward to how the most ardent Disney defenders who are also George haters will deal with this. Chances are some like HelloGreedo who wouldn't stop praising Disney for saving SW from George will try to ignore this or claim that its not really against what they want because there's no "proof" that George is back or some other bullshit claim to save face, or they could pull a Dobson and pretend they loved George all along for the sake of virtue signaling.

I'm not sure I buy this. If Abrams/Disney really needed advice on how to fix Luke up, all they really would have to do to fix him would be to do what Johnson failed to do in The Last Jedi and listen to what Luke himself would have to say about how to do things. We know that Hamill made it clear many times throughout and after development of TFA and TLJ that he disagreed with everything that they were doing to Luke, and during interviews he even brought up ideas he had for scenes the movies could have used to show Luke in a more heroic light.
Why would Disney take all the trouble to swallow their pride, and spend what is surely a large extra sum of money in the process, to bring Lucas onto the set for help? They already have Hamill there to tell them how to fix it and he surely knows just as much if not more about how to go about it than Lucas does.

Also, here's a Disney character that totally has NOTHING TO DO WITH that solution.
And the thing is? They don't really care about this shit. Disney and any other corp making a big fuss over empowerment and diversity is doing it purely for public image. The only thing Disney cares about is that you keep shoveling money into its insatiable maw, and that you pass it on to your offspring like a hereditary disease.
