Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

To be honest, the basic narrative here is "competent subordinate promoted to incompetent leader." I've heard the same story about the Soviet space program.
Hollywood, like most corporate conglomerates masquerading as actual companies, falls afoul of the Peter Principle more often than the norm.

That’s interesting because aside from them taking over distribution and marketing and Marvel getting the X-Men, I feel like Fox wouldn’t be bastardized by Disney since they’re retaining much of the executives and presidents of production from Fox.

I had to rate you optimistic here because they don't usually fire a bunch of people before the ink is dry on a merger. They usually wait a month or more and then start laying off people like it's going out of style.

The only time I know of where a company laid off a higher up dramatically was a place I worked. The very day that the company was bought, and the final papers were signed was the day that the going to be CEO was fired. It was a bit hilarious, he had been the president and as we were spun off he was going to be CEO. Kept telling the peons how wonderful it was going to be, yadda yadda yadda, and got kicked to the curb the day he was supposed to be made CEO.

Many a CU have stumbled or even outright failed at the beginning due to a lack of respect and poor planning,
I think you mean every cinematic universe other than Marvel.

So according to the novelization of TLJ, the end of the Sith, the restoration of the Jedi Temple, the subsequent destruction of the Temple, and Emo Ren's turn to the dark side were all part of Snoke's master plan and Luke was actually his unknowing puppet all along. And Luke tried to kill Kylo when he was 24 rather than a kid/teen and he didn't go into isolation until a few years after that, which means that Luke was only in isolation for about 2 or so years. Yet people keep acting like he's been gone for ages and that some stupid mcguffin map will... you know what, fuck it. I'm done with this part of the subject and I feel like I've brought this up before.

And apparently according to the last Thrawn book and some First Order guide, my least favorite old characters, the Vong, are still canon but are now called the "Grysk", the only difference being the name and that they don't use biotech (which was the only interesting thing about those skull-faced shitheads). And apparently Snoke and his stupid species of purple robed douches who saved the Imperial remnant that became the First Order are implied to be the Vong Grysk survivors (hence why Snoke looks mutilated since the Grysk are mutilation fetishists). I guess they changed the name due to either Disney's suspiciously questionable ownership of all of SW media or they knew pre-Disney lore fans wouldn't be happy to see the Vong again, but in the grand scheme of Disney failures, the Vong feel harmless by comparison.

The new guides also explain that the reason the Resistance is even more weakened and outnumbered by the First Order and why the remnants of the New Republic didn't team up with them after not-Coruscant was destroyed was because the entirety of the New Republic navy was stationed at Not-Coruscant and that all of their ships were around the planet protecting it during some sort of important political meeting between worlds, so when the planet blew up, the entire fucking army of the galaxy's main political force got destroyed along with it. Also the more I read the new material, like Wendig's books, the new guides, or anything talking about the ROTJ-TFA timeskip, etc, the more it seems clear that they've softly retconned the OT, which further raises my suspicions of whether they ever did actually own the OT or not, since it feels like they only own some aesthetic elements, character names, the franchise name, and nothing more.

There's also more stuff I could mention for all the newcomers to the thread, like Leia's fuck ups, Mon Mothma's huge fuck ups with the Galactic Concordance explaining why the Resistance and New Republic are so fucking exceptional, but its best you just search through previous pages or skim Wookieepedo. And honestly, Han's betafying is probably the saddest thing of all.

I can't wait for Star Wars: Episode IX: Total Shitfest

When do you all think the teaser trailer will drop? During Avengers:Endgame? Or will they wait to the last minute like Solo?

Yeah, I mentioned a while back that aurebesh along with ships would be one of the few familiar things from the franchise to be in the park alongside that semi-duplicate of Chalmund's cantina and the Falcon. So what are the costumes of anyway? Random humans or aliens? Have they shown off the full appearance of that ithorian merchant animatronic yet? Got any pics of the costumes?

Also I found out that there's a book series titled "Galaxy's Edge" unrelated to Disney's Galaxy's Edge park which has been around for a few years now.

Any chance of the publishers or Disney getting into some minor drama over this?

I dunno. I just saw some blurbs about it on Orlando media, they're always way behind the park dirtsheets.

I posted about it a few pages back.

Supposedly the trailer may come out around April which makes it likely that it will be paired with Avengers. Seems like a a sneaky but solid strategy to get their loyal MCU fanbase to offer their support for the SW IP.
I figured it'd be released later given the nature of the film being closed off to the public. Plus, I would imagine Disney having reshoots on the film, thus delaying the trailer.

Do we have proof that Kathleen Kennedy actually hates Star Wars though? An article, perhaps? Just to be sure, here.
I've never heard her mention having any animosity towards SW itself, just its fanbase for being male dominated. There were a bunch of news articles during 2015 and 2016 where she talked about her view on the male fans. Nothing specifically about hating SW, just fans. I don't think she hates SW, but she certainly has no earnest love for it beyond a superficial normie approval of it that's mainly driven from a business perspective.

A lot of bad signs were there from the start (especially with the comics, Wendig books, and pretty much everything outside of TFA, including the Twitter activity of those involved with it) but most just preferred to turn a blind eye to it until TLJ because "muh nostalgia" and cross saber. And most like to blame the "alt-right trolls" for the hate, but normalfags on both the right and left were just as defensive of Disney Wars before TLJ as any other Disney drones, feminists or SJWs that we are seeing defend the Disney Wars movies to death now.

But no, I don't recall any instance of Kennedy ever bashing the franchise itself, but she certainly knows how to mistreat it as badly as someone who does hate it.

In business/management, it's known as the Peter Principle: someone can do a great job at things...and then they're promoted and incompetent in their new position.

Just some movies and books that suggest she hates it.

So lads predictions for how Disney is going to wrap up this steaming pile of hot garbage?

I honestly don't see how they are going to be able to salvage the series now, plot wise the new storyline hasn't made much sense from the get go, but how are they going to reconcile the new movie to the last one.

Interested to hear some thoughts.

A lot of damage controls, retcons, and it's gonna tie itself more to Force Awakens than Last Jedi. I wouldn't be surprised most of the elements presented in Last Jedi (Rey being a nobody, Rose, Holdo, Reylo subtext) are quietly ignored in Abram's finale to reinforce his vision of the story.

I expect it to be a clusterfuck that tries to play it safe, pander to old fans a lot by milking nostalgia (Lando is in it only for that aspect, since every other character is dead or gone), ignoring as much as possible from TLJ and I expect them to take no risks and make no bold moves whatsoever.

I expect it to be a clusterfuck that tries to play it safe, pander to old fans a lot by jerking off nostalgia (Lando is in it only for that aspect, since every other character is dead or gone), ignoring as much as possible from TLJ and I expect them to take no risks and make no bold moves whatsoever.
The problem is this: if TLJ is ignored, then now there's a big stupid hole in the movie which retroactively pisses of Jonson, and he and his twitter sperglets will go ham. The last thing Abrams wants is to remove even the TLJ apologists from the fandom, so honestly, I have no clue. It's going to be diet ROTJ with way too many nods to TLJ and Rey Sueing it up to mythical proportions, but other than that I have no clue.

Retcons and more retcons. Luke will be alive and so will Snoke. Snoke will be a cyborg thing or Kylo killed his clone or something. Rey really is the chosen one. They discover something about the force. There will be really distracting CGI for Carrie Fisher and the Empire will be destroyed.
