Why the hell do people just do that? Change up dubs to stuff their political opinions into them? I've always thought of dubs as merely translating the Japanese original with English voices and maybe adapt it if something's untranslatable like puns or something. What those people are doing is on the same level as 4Kids to me, it' s just gross. It kinda shits on the Japanese original, but at least 4Kids at a demographic and economic reasoning. Making an anime "woke" is plain stupid and, dare I say, disrespectful.

They know what audience buys their shitty dubs, it's the same people who love to watch CURRENT YEAR man do a Fortnite dance to own Drumpf, not the dudes who import $80 Drama CDs in a language they don't speak so they can flog their log.
Honestly I don't think I've ever bought a dubbed anime, unless you count Chinese bootlegs with dual audio. But I have spent a non negligible sum importing

I'm actually amazed that Vic is the first casualty and that this didn't start earlier. Moreover voice actors are notoriously petty for holding grudges because most of them want to be thought of as serious actors and they probably don't like to be reminded that playing anime schoolgirl #6 is considered less important then generic anime hero #2.

I don't have much to add to what's already been said. I have no idea who this guy is and most of the allegations seem kinda...meh. Stuff you'd figure was kinda odd/creepy but most people wouldn't still be upset about years and years later.

I’m not too familiar with VA industry contracts but I kinda doubt there’s anything in there that bars them from ever complaining about another VAs illegal sexual advances towards minors, especially considering they’re only now doing it due to public backlash. Even if there is that still essentially makes them accessories.

Because it's as incestuous as an industry can be. It's not like professional opinion-havers industry on shitty jurno rags or youtube who eat each other for woke points as a job. They absolutely do NOT publicly cannibalize each other under any circumstance because they all work together and it would make the company look bad. Everyone is friends and everyone knows everyone, so stepping out of line makes you enemies with everyone. So you keep smiling and you keep dancing and if you so much as sweat your career will be ruined and you'll have nowhere to go.
I maintain it's probably the most damning evidence against Vic. It's really not easy to get an ENTIRE industry to stab you in the back unless you really did fuck up.
