I suppose Coke and Pepsi think their Heart Attack Water is so ubiquitous and so ingrained into pop culture, that people won't boycott it to the degree that it could hurt them. I actually think Coke would score more success if they stowed the preachy "We're gonna cram Diversity so far down your throat, you'll be shitting different colors!" ads and just replayed their "I'd like to Teach the World to Sing" ad from the Sixties. Nice, friendly message, catchy song, and no uneasy feeling that there was a boardroom full of cynical, gray-suited, advertising reps behind everything.

Speaking of diversity, isn't it strange then we don't see lots of East Asians, Latinos, Indians and Muslims in their ads?:?:

This is sliiiightly removed from the Euphoric Atheist argument that taking your kids to church is brainwashing and child abuse. But not removed by much.

Still, I'll betcha this guy thinks these kids are old enough to decide to have sex (and abortions), but somehow are unable to formulate a political opinion of their own.

I don’t think Ginsberg is still with us only because we aren’t getting regular reports of her recovery. I think a clerk is writing her opinions to give HRC time to get plastic surgery to look like Ginsberg. I’m only half joking. What an awful thing to do to her family this whole bullshit is.

There's little doubt that clerks have been doing the heavy lifting for years, so it's business as usual for them.

The state religion is globohomo. After forcing your seven year old child to write a letter to the president for Twitter, you doll them up and take them to the drag race to strip their apology for being white and climate change.

While I hate to agree with a bunch of idiots, I'm not going to say it's not noontime just because a clock is broken.

The state should spend no more money teaching bible stuff than they do teaching other religious mythology. Which isn't to say nothing at all, just no more than they spend on greek mythology, roman, norse, what have you. I'm fine with teaching religion as a lesson in human culture, but not with actually preaching those religions.

That sounds good on paper, but legalism knows no religion, and it wouldn't be long before you had people following the general curriculum of each school with a micrometer, ensuring that a religion that is as foundational to American culture as Christianity gets no more time than some obscure (possibly fictional) African cult that absolutely nobody follows and never impacted anyone but a handful of siblings. And you know there are people who hate Jews and Christians enough to do exactly that.

If you're going to do education, you spend as much time on a topic as is necessary for the student to understand it, regardless of whether someone else feels left out. You can teach it as neutrally as possible ("This is what X is/does/says" without reference to whether one should believe it), but the objective is to make people culturally literate, not to keep them equally ignorant.

I see things going in three possible directions.

2. Trump does not get his wall, in which case the Democrats will have a chance at the presidency assuming they can get their freakshow of a party whipped and in line before the General (good luck with that). It should be noted for this and the last possibility, no wall means a Republican can never win an election ever again due to the demographic shift.

Demographic shift? What do you mean? You don't mean that the demographic is going to shift to the crazy Demos, right?

All the Republicans in Congress managed to get done is a tax cut, and that's because rich individuals and corporations paid them to get it done. Otherwise, all they want to do is squabble and do nothing except talk.

Reaganomics ("Trickle Down Economics") is kind of a good idea. The tax cut benefits the CEO's of companies, which means more money can flow throughout the company, which means people get raises and departments get higher budgets. I don't see why it's not a good idea, but I do agree that most Republicans and Democrats just spend time arguing and that's it...and they do nothing else.

America’s relationship to religion, and possibly its very existence, is a direct result of the years of conflict in England around Protestantism, Catholicism and Anglicanism. See as an example Oliver Cromwell’s entire life, and his posthumous hanging by King Charles II after the restoration of the monarchy. The “separation of church and state” was about preventing bloody sectarian conflict over who gets to forcibly mandate one faith or another. All of those factions were Christians, teaching that period and Christianity would legitimately help American students understand the nation and its history.

While lowering taxes can be good it has to be coupled with a decrease in government spending which neither side seems to want to do.

I wonder do all the Dems think that if Trump steps down in the unlikely event he's impeached, that Mike Pence wouldn't be any worse for them.

They haven't thought that far ahead.

No, seriously, they haven't. Why do you think, when you call them out on the long-term outcomes of short-sighted policies, they stare blankly at you for a moment and then call you a racist?

That's fair. Ironic that the only one who calls for Trump's impeachment who knows that Pence needs to be out too happens to be fucking Chris Chan of all people.
