I think that as it stands now, the 2020 Election is looking grim for Democrats. Granted, we're just under two years away, so lots of things can happen ... But it ain't looking good for them at the moment, and I personally don't foresee a significant thing happening to change it.

And Bernie running should mark as an early disaster for Democrats. I think that him running signifies a very divided voting base. Styxhexenhammer666 covered it well:

I'd say that if Trump gets his wall ... The 2020 Election is over before it can even begin for the Dems. Let's see how things turn out after these next three weeks.

I'd say that if Trump gets his wall ... The 2020 Election is over before it can even begin for the Dems. Let's see how things turn out after these next three weeks.

I see things going in three possible directions.

1. Trump gets his wall, in which case he is guaranteed a second term and the Dems get to screech for another 4 years while scheming for 2024
2. Trump does not get his wall, in which case the Democrats will have a chance at the presidency assuming they can get their freakshow of a party whipped and in line before the General (good luck with that). It should be noted for this and the last possibility, no wall means a Republican can never win an election ever again due to demographic shift.
3. Trump does not get his wall and the Democrats fail to tardwrangle a functional coalition of voters, at which point both parties begin to violently fracture and whoever wins will likely be the last Republican/Democrat president in the sense we think of them today.

if he backs down on the wall, people might do just that.

Yeah but how would the Dems do that? "See, Trump didn't build the wall that he promised and we don't plan to do that either"? And his voters are going to turn on him and allow Kamala fucking Harris to get elected? I don't see it, people are going to take one look at her face and go yeah fuck the wall, we didn't need it that badly.

I think that's likely the best layout off things I've seen. Which is why I think there will be emergency wall funding, and as it pounds through the courts, if Ginsburg dies, Trump will give the dems a SCOTUS pick in exchange for congressional funding instead. Either way, I suspect the wall will happen, as long as the republicans keep their shit together and use their labyrinthal knowledge of DC to smooth things as much as possible.

tl;dr I think a hell of a lot more than a SCOTUS appointment hinges on RBGs death date.

Honestly both parties need to clean house and reinvent themselves. I detest Trump personally but at least he actually tries to make changes and get things done which is what people elect a president for.

All the Republicans in Congress managed to get done is a tax cut, and that's because rich individuals and corporations paid them to get it done. Otherwise, all they want to do is squabble and do nothing except talk.

Meanwhile the Democrats also just want to run their mouths and war with other Democrats. It's not like Obama actually did much and half of the reason for that is that Congressional Democrats are just as fucking useless as the Republican ones.

:optimistic: that RBG is alive, I'm 50/50 on whether she's still with us

Regardless, I don't want the wall to be traded for a supreme Court seat. The Dems are masters at "you give us what we want, then we'll give you what you want" and either totally lying or using it to extract further concessions. They can't be allowed the opportunity to do this for something as important as a supreme Court seat.

That's not true. Maybe you have your local feuds for historical reasons but Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay, Argentina and Uruguay are pretty chill with Venezuelans. Brazil is it's own world because of how fucking big it is and the Guyanas are a joke. The only exception, the only mass hated country in south America is Chile, and for very valid reasons.

They are pretty chill with Venezuelans IMMIGRANTS not with our Government

This is exactly my mentality right here.

I want the wall, actually enforced border security, and a proper vetting process ... Don't get me wrong. However, this is most definitely a situation of "Things would get SO much worse with the Dems in power, though ... So I have no choice but to vote for Trump again."

Trump's got my vote. When I voted for him in 2016, I held my nose, and I did it as an act of defiance (because, fuck you, I can vote for whomever I want, so spare me the name calling and the lectures). Trump has not only exceeded my expectations, but the Democrats have proven themselves to be even worse than I had already known.

He is not backing down, at least not yet.

"He is not giving us the wall to stop illegal immigration so i will vote for someone who wants more llegal immigration"
If someone really thinks like that they deserve to be stabbed by a mexican gang member.

RGB has been dead for at least a month, they are trying to hide it until they are able to use the same black magic that they use on Soros to try to revive her.

Little skeptical on black magic, but I have no doubt IF she's still alive she receiving the most expensive heroic medical care possible and has had her infant blood intake upped significantly.

I don't know if RBG is dead ... But I can almost guarantee that she doesn't have much time left.

Oh man. The SALT that will take place when RBG is pronounced dead. The salt!

The Dems have already spent their mass hysteria on Kavanaugh. If they pull this kind of shit again for Trump's next pick, they will be sabotaging themselves. In order for the Dems to take back some stability within their voting base (because, let's face it: They have LOST the white middle class vote), they need to not be so batshit insane.

She's already dead, the Dems are just trying to figure out a way to say it without causing mass hysteria. Kind of like when Kim Il Sung died in North Korea.

The most likely scenario is that RBG is bedridden after breaking her ribs (may have also developed dementia after taking anesthesia for so many surgeries) and they are going to keep her alive as long as they can and pretend she is fine while someone else votes on things for her.

I don't think he's ever gonna back down on the one thing that was his #1 campaign promise.

That said, there has been a massive hysteria over him tempoarily reopening the government with people thinking "OMG! HE CAVED TO THE DEMS! GUESS I'M NOT VOTING FOR HIM NOW!"

People saying that are missing the whole story entirely. Part of it was that Trump wanted to make sure the furloughed federal workers got paid (the Democrats voted AGAINST doing this, twice in fact) and it was also to ensure he could give his SotU address. Pelosi promised she would allow him to give it only after he reopened the government, and now that he has he's effectively put her in a position where she'll either be forced to allow it to happen or still reject it causing some even in her own party to view her as an obstructionist. In my opinion, he had a genius plan from the beginning. It just might've been communicated wrong.

I suppose Coke and Pepsi think their Heart Attack Water is so ubiquitous and so ingrained into pop culture, that people won't boycott it to the degree that it could hurt them. I actually think Coke would score more success if they stowed the preachy "We're gonna cram Diversity so far down your throat, you'll be shitting different colors!" ads and just replayed their "I'd like to Teach the World to Sing" ad from the Sixties. Nice, friendly message, catchy song, and no uneasy feeling that there was a boardroom full of cynical, gray-suited, advertising reps behind everything.

Yes I think people are jumping the gun, I'll see you in 3 weeks or so.
