There are only, like, ten comments on the video of his "performance" on the Desmond Is Amazing YouTube channel, and they're only comments defending this nonsense. Someone must be monitoring the comment section like a hawk.
That in itself should be a flag, of sorts - if there was nothing wrong with it, the comments would be talking about Desmond's skill as a dancer or who "cool" his costume is. If there was nothing to defend, the comments wouldn't be defensive.
Jesus Christ the father is awkward as fuck. seems like he's just eye-raping his own son the whole time too
His dad gives me a "gets intentionally handsy and brushes certain areas while helping Desmond get changed" vibe

"He isn't being sexualized."

I haven't read the entire thread, so maybe I missed it, but... Does Desmond even go to school? How does he have time to dance half naked at bars in the middle of the night if he needs to be at school in the morning?
I notice how three of the four are definitely women. There's something special about heterosexual faghags insisting that there's nothing sexual about a prepubescent boy stripping for adult gay men. The same way there's something special about his mom orbiting a gay convicted murderer.

None of these pathetic bozos is even going to get laid from this chomo white knighting.

At least in part, they assume that because the "cool moms" in the audience find the act kind of funny and adorable in a childish way, that must be all there is to it. It's like posting a bunch of bathtub photos of your kid in public on the internet ... you don't want to do that really, because while the people you know may be safe, the rest of the audience for bathtub photos of kids is unsavory in the extreme, so lock it down to the audience least likely to be disgusting.

No one would care if Desmond "performed" for a few wine-drunk soccer moms in a living room and got a smattering of applause.

Do his parents at least let him keep the dollars the kiddie diddlers throw at him? Maybe he's saving up for a lawyer so he can get emancipated from them.

I agree with most of what you're saying, but not all autistic people are as bothered by sensory overloads as that. I've met a lot of autistic people, especially children over the years. You probably already know about this, but for the sake of everyone else, there are two categories of autism, low functioning and high functioning. The difference is that high functioning autists are better at hiding the tism and fitting in with non autistic people. Low functioning autists are the ones that have extreme sensory overloads, can't handle talking to people and other such things.

There is no way a child with low functioning autism could do what Desmond does. The sound, smell and environment of a night club would be too much for them. However, high functioning autistic children are able to ignore things like this. Not to mention, a lot of high functioning children are very gullible when it comes to making friend or earning someone's respect and love. They don't understand normal social interactions, so they just go along with whatever they're told if they think it might make someone like them.

As far as I'm concerned, autism is being massively overdiagnosed in children and in some adults at the moment, so a lot of the dx's going around would be more likely to be attachment disorders instead, they are purely environment-based and are influenced by anything from post-natal depression in the mother to financial issues in the household to having too many siblings. A therapist who sees a kid maybe three times and hands out an autism dx is seeing the kid in a clinical setting removed from the home environment and hearing about the maladjusted behavior second-hand instead of seeing it for themselves. Autistic people come from all types of families, but attachment disorders come from dysfunctional or non-existent ones.

There's a document called the Coventry grid that explains how the two disorders overlap, and how easy it is to mistake attachment disorder for autism.

I've known a lot of high-functioning autistic children and adults, and every one of them had lines they were unable to cross. (I specifically worked with them trying to encourage crossing those lines to make their lives easier.) Drag make-up often goes far beyond normal physical discomfort into the realm of agony. Those big fake eyelashes are a pain in the arse to even put on, let alone wear for a solid set without rubbing your eyes. Body glitter is gritty as hell and gets in every crevice imaginable, and unpleasantly sticky. That's before the kid even gets to the stage. I don't think even the highest-functioning person I'd ever met could handle that, but kids with attachment disorders are known to put up with all sorts of awful crap to feel loved.

Also, Desmond's household fits the bill for an AD background. Aside from Mom's creepy fixation on the glam murderer and Dad's flat effect, there's the financial instability and the e-begging and the lack of appropriate boundaries set by the parents, and I don't know if I've picked this up right but Mom looks a good bit younger than the Dad to me, so who knows what their relationship dynamic is like.

It’s funny how they spend half their time “debunking” the “insane conspiracy theories” about poor little, autistic Desmond who’s only crime is loving to strip tease in front of gay men.

These parents are insane and lack self awareness.

I'm still convinced he's not autistic, purely because any and every autistic person I know (quite a lot, as I work with special needs kids) would not be capable of putting up with the sheer level of physical discomfort that comes with drag make-up. Even regular day-to-day make-up is too much for the average autistic woman, and so many of them have to have the labels cut off their clothes so they don't get scratched by them. One guy I knew wore plastic overalls over his trousers when the weather was mildly wet because he couldn't stand wearing damp anything, even though it took about five minutes to put them on and then take them off when it stopped raining. (He missed a lot of buses.)

My best friend is autistic, he hates having his hair touched or cut. He hates being wet, and really hates wearing tight or restrictive clothing.

Jesus Christ, normally I only comment on shit I find funny and ignore stuff that takes too long to read or actually pisses me off. That being said I’ve slowly perused the thread. Skimmed over parts of it and all I can say is that this is really the same thing as child abuse on every level. Even if your kid was wanting to play dress up and express as the opposite gender, and you were okay with that in your household, why would you then start exploiting that for monetary gain? I mean it’s one thing to have them go on one of those daytime talk shows that old women and teenage girls skipping school watch. But to parade the kid around like his - your own kid mind you, in a specialized way. That is a sign of Sociopathy.

As for the kid, I don’t buy that he has autism personally. Not because of the social aspect. I think he’s got dependence issues and probably something akin to Stockholm Syndrome without actually having to be kidnapped. He in all likelihood will develop some kind of Borderline Personality Disorder as well and probably already is a narcissist. All of this being spurred on by his parents terrible behavior. I can’t stand people who mess with kids this way. If you fuck up their heads that early, they’re fucked up for life or at the very least have to find some way to cope if they ever want to reverse the damage provided they even see it as damage at all.

It’s times like this I just want to move to some country in Asia or Eastern Europe where this stuff isn’t promoted and my kids and grandkids will be less likely to be exposed to it. For another decade at least maybe....

You'd run into this in SE Asia too.

Considering they're both unemployed, probably not. Unless they get extra money from e-begging, but for all we know, Desmond could be the sole provider for the family.

I wouldn't be surprised if Desmond was on some sort of tugboat as well. Unemployed parents just scream kid on tugboat they steal from.

That was just a shitpost because he likes trains.

Mom declared Desmond on the spectrum via this FB post:

...Desmond is on the autism spectrum….But at the end of the day, this 10-year old boy has been able to overcome his disorder’s symptoms and behavior issues and become successful in pursuing his interests. He likes dressing up, dance, voguing, and fashion design. HOW ARE THOSE INTERESTS HURTING YOU??? Please, someone explain that to me. Frankly speaking, it takes most people until their adulthood to figure out how to live with any disorder or disease. Desmond feels most focused and comfortable when he is designing his outfits and dressing up. It helps his autism and helps keep his behavior under control, which means he has a high quality of life right now. If it helps with the autism and hurts no one around him, why is this so wrong? How is this criminal? How is this bad parenting?

You can bet they're skirting child labor laws. I know that when child performers work in movies or TV or in stage plays a portion of the money goes in trust to the child when it reaches 18. There are strict limitations to hours worked, education time, and a social worker has to be there at all times. I bet there is no oversight here and 100% of the money is going under the table to the parents.

Mom declared Desmond on the spectrum via this FB post:

Well, that makes it even worse, and makes it even worse they're exploiting his lack of ability to understand the social implications of his actions. He probably doesn't even know there's anything weird about a child stripping and pole dancing in front of a bunch of pederasts throwing money at him.
