But did he get banned because of some dumb shit he said or because those naughty "detractors" reported him for the dumb shit he said?

To my knowledge, TGWTG used blip.tv to host their videos back when Phil was attempting to join them. The blip.tv video would be embedded onto the site.

The rest is speculation, but if Phil couldn't have his videos hosted because he was banned from blip.tv over the Dead Space 2 Nazi jokes, then Channel Awesome wouldn't have been able to use him.

God, could you imagine the shit show if Phil was part of Channel Autism?

Considering GuruLarry spends a lot of time watching and commenting TIHYDP-videos and the like, this would be an amazing troll.

After reading the docs on the sort of shit Michaud puts people through, having Phil interact with him would be putting an unstoppable gout against the immovable leech. Please Larry, make it happen. Dan Ibbertson makes more and better content than you, and you know that, Mr Fa(c)t H/(C)unt. This is your time to finally go full detractor.

Knowing who DSP is, he probably is a hero in another timeline where because of his dumb fuckery, made a internet group of grooming teenagers be disbanded because he simply blurted it on a stream by mistake while he was asked why he got kicked from CA after his nazi's remarks on blip.tv

Another problem is that, like you said, Phil never carved out his own niche audience after the Let's Play community expanded exponentially, instead trying to appeal to everybody but not realizing his own limitations

If there was a full movie about Phil, they would call it "The Million Limits Man".
I don't have a single example of something he is good at. Well, except for lying, but that's not a good trait and normally liars get busted sooner or later. Sure, nobody needs to be an allrounder and every single human has some flaws. But when you do your job you want to be good at it. You want to get better, evolve, learn from your experiences. And the audience expects that to. He wants to sell his "product" so he needs to improve, but he won't.

DSP tries it, to be highly professional and highly mature. I always roll my eyes when I'm on his Youtube page and this auto-video starts. "Hewo everywon, Darksaidpfil here, your sauce for the latest hot releases blabla", yes this is what he wants to be. Maybe he kinda was but all that is lost. He should learn to make fun of himself instead of this pseudo-professionalism he's not capable of. Watching a dusty old man who handles games like a trampoline to beg for money is no fun at all.

You have to possess some abilities or talent to make a such a career happen, or maybe just a passion. But Phil has not a single ability that I would search for in a good streamer or entertainer. He is literally just the "real guy" who sits besides you and plays games because he is bored or has nothing better to do. Yeah great, I will have more fun by playing these games for myself; which is one of the biggest points against Let's Plays I know. Unfortunately Phil fits right in this puddle, you get nothing by watching him; in the end you might even lose money when you're gullible enough.

So let's put on the :powerlevel: and search for any positive traits that could directly benefit him as a streamer.
Or should I rather say: Look at all these limitations.

Streamer Setup/Visual
☐ Cool looking studio (or transparent greenscreen)
☐ Handsome / Cute / Appealing
☐ Well-groomed appearance
☐ Good (or any) stream-design

Streamer Audio

☑ Good microphone, clearly hearable
☐ Pleasant voice
☐ Suppresses body functions / mutes himself *SNORT*

Game properties
☑ Good resolution, constant and good FPS
☑ Good mix-up of game and microphone
☑ Plays a cool game (Sometimes)

Streamer Behaviour
☐ Pseudo-cool idiot with appeal to pseudo-cool kids
☐ Acts like an idiot as a parodie or does a play
☐ Welcoming
☐ Open for several topics
☐ Open to freely talk with chat
☐ Talks a lot (and not about money/finances)
☐ Explains a lot (not his money/finances)
☐ Doesn't beg for money
☐ Shows respect and/or class
☐ Nice person
☐ Has fun
☐ Shows passion
☐ Nice sense of humor
☐ Can laugh about himself

Gaming Skills
☐ Specialized
☐ Speedrunner
☐ Game Designer
☐ Critic
☐ Does [good] voice acting
☐ Pays attention
☐ Knows a lot about gaming
☐ Can adapt very fast / Has natural skills

Community
☐ Welcoming, hopefully non-autistic
☐ Knows the limits
☐ Respects the rules
☐ Mature and/or intelligent
☐ Fair human moderation

So as you can see, Phil's only good qualities come from the work of other people. It's no wonder he doesn't do shit and just HOPES it gets better and waits for the BIG releases. This is the wrong job, mate. I can only pitty him and his cults who wait for the one and only god to end this torment, the wait for the God of War, halleluja, he will free them all and better times will come! And until them, give the cult-leader money! Hallefuckinluja!

Get a job.

(apparently we are pumpkinfarms now?)

I don't think I've ever seen him show evidence of connecting with a character in a game.
I actually do remember one. Towards the end of Persona 4, when Nanako "dies", he was incredibly and genuinely upset by it; even the "I can't believe these shitty doctors let this happen" jokes he made had an undercurrent of legitimate emotion. It was also one of the few times that I've found DSP to be likeable and heartwarming.

He still couldn't pronounce her name correctly, though.

I remember that. I was genuinely shocked by it because it may have genuinely been the 1st time I saw him effected by an emotional gaming moment. I think he's been effected a few times though, but he tries to deflect it with "humor" for some inane reason. Generally I think he's scared of being emotional in any way on camera.

He's scared of everything that could potentially bring him back from the brink of bankruptcy. People like seeing streamers emotional, it's why a lot of popular YTers got their beginnings getting freaked out by jumpscares. Markiplier cries his eyes out at fan tributes and gets insanely praised for it. One guy has a specific set of videos for "feels."

Phil's just a pussy by being dishonest even about his own feelings because he thinks people watch him being a laughing jackass.

Didn't he get emotional at the end of TWD Season 1? I think that fucked many "Tough guy" gamers up.

https://youtu.be/qAQLyctHO-s?t=11628

EMOTIONAL?

Christ, I couldn't even watch this clip - even with Phil talking over it - without getting teary-eyed all over again. And then the goutlord has the balls to start criticizing people who chose to shoot Lee (dude, some people figured this is a world where her innocence could not be preserved, best to harden her up so she can actually survive.)

Quite funny he calls the shooters "fucked up" when in the next season he kept doing sex moans at Clem sewing her fucking arm up.

I had more emotion for my toothbrush than Phil had for this ending.

Bonus: He starts mockingly singing "Oooh I'll never get a job and pay taxeees!" god I needed a laugh after that.

Amazing, you can tell that was a few years ago. This seems like the Phil before he gave up on trying at all, he was actually pretty respectful to the game. Other than the music but eh, that's a taste thing.

What I'm always curious about is why he tries to attach reality to games. He does this quite a bit and it always bugs me. It's like he can't take a games laws and rules and accept them, he has to compare it to reality for some reason.

And I don't think I have ever hit up a Walmart that didn't at least have portable ones in stock.

Remember, Phil doesn’t shop at Walmart. Walmart is low-quality, cheap shit meant for people who can’t afford the nicer things in life. Walmart is for the lazy plebs who work their easy 9 to 5 jobs barely getting by, not for the people who work their asses off, who own their own businesses and owe thousands and thousands of dollars to governments. Real talk.

God, could you imagine the shit show if Phil was part of Channel Autism?

He'd fit right in because of Doug's inexplicable compulsion to surround himself with crazy people means that almost everybody in there is nuts. But on the other hand he'd be kind of an outcast because most of them are either amoral sjw nerds, douchebag opportunistic sjws, or angry fat sjws. And dsp's brand of apolitical fratbroism is quite a different beast then their culture.

I was going to suggest if DSP would have any emotions if he ever played one of the most emotional games ever, to me at least, "To The Moon" but then i saw that he made a LP of it, watched the last part and he....had emotions...not going to lie, he was respectful to this game, i actually...appreciate that....

https://youtu.be/28ux5oGBL-o?t=751

12:31 He literally cried, you can hear him actually blow his nose and hear his voice crack while tears going down his face

https://youtu.be/28ux5oGBL-o?t=898

14:58 he appreciates this game for what it is and did a actual good review

Where is this Phil? If he was sincere, honest and as relatable as the Phil i posted, i don't think him being bad at games would be such a big deal...

Bonus: He starts mockingly singing "Oooh I'll never get a job and pay taxeees!" god I needed a laugh after that.

Put Snort Burnell on the phone...
