Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

Ostatnio edytowane:
I wonder if Rey is meant to be Anakin done "right" what with all the ambiguity stuff they're trying to introduce. Not just the "super OP Jedi" thing but also her just knowing how to fly ships, fight, and do mind trcks brings back memories of 10 year old Anakin building droids and being the best podracer even though humans sucked at that.

TBQH, everyone ITT that dislikes the new movie is just a bigot Trump supporter GG Nazi.

The women in the film were written pretty much intentionally to be either bitchy or useless. What the fuck are these people on? If I was a complete fucking retard I'd call it sexist.

I saw it today, it was alright. Not anything amazing, but not as horrible as some neckbeards sperg about too. (imo anyway) Movies aren't rocket science, usually if I'm not totally miserable and bored while watching a movie then that's automatically a big bonus.

I did like the hetero romances that seem to be developing because that'll piss tumblrites off.

Well for me the movie wasn't like it was bad that this "ruined my childhood" for me it just had some severe problems as far as story structure, tone, characters and plot. I am at least glad that others can enjoy this and I am just saddened that I cannot enjoy it as others seem to be as I don't like to be a negative nancy.

Yeah, anyone who has their childhood ruined by fictional media is autistic tbh. I always get a kick out of how fictional movies can be so polarizing. I thought TFA and this movie were both just dumb, fun, space adventures. far from amazing, but enjoyable on some levels.

Honestly, I liked The Last Jedi a lot more than I thought I would after The Force Awakens. Sure, it had some problems: similarly to Thor: Ragnarok, I had a difficult time developing a sense of excitement or peril for the characters, mostly because a great number of them suffered from paper thin personalities and just did what the plot called for, as well as from wonky, wishy-washy motivations and forced conflicts that could've easily been solved with the characters taking their heads out of their asses, making a good part of the sub plots feel like pointless filler that's just there so all the major characters have something to do. Still, the film had some fun eye candy, Rey was somewhat more tolerable this time around (Kylo was still kinda irritating), there were some neat, if not altogether unexpected twists and Luke "trollmaster" Skywalker really stole the show for me, with "White Ghetto Lando" being a close second. Just like Ragnarok, it barely deserves the 8.0+ and 90+ ratings critics at Rotten Tomatoes and IMDB have been showering it with, but it was a fun, is slightly bloated, romp.

With how people are schlicking over how this movie is about the evils of mansplaining and toxic masculinity I find it funny how unintentionally incompetent some of the female characters were. Whatshername McPurplehairs could've prevented Poe going on his own shit had she been straight with her plans (with how tightly knit the surviving rebels were I don't think they had to worry about spies at that point even with Finn's "desertion"), and if she was going to sacrifice herself for the greater good already, couldn't she had done it BEFORE the bad guys have destroyed several dozen escape vessels full of her comrades? I guess the plot demanded some casualties to build up drama. With all the preaching about how it's more important to save lives that to look like a hero she sure seemed to prioritize upholding her authority and building up tension for her heroic deed over saving as many lives as possible.

Discount Mei wasn't any better either. Her preventing Finn from destroying the pocket Death Star thingie could've ended a lot messier had Luke not shown up out of plot convenience. Apparently sacrificing yourself to help hundreds is an act of hate it it's done by a man, and potentially dooming said hundreds for just one person is an act of love if it's done by a token Asian girl.

Finally, I wonder how long till some idiots start reeeing about how a bunch of white women have shown up some poor, underprivileged POCs.

I may be one of the few people on the kiwi who aren't bothered by porgs. They're stupid and pointless but ultimately inoffensive (unlike Minions, who are a similar cute critter marketed to children but gosh golly I'm not a fan) like when I see one I don't want to puke.

I'll probably skip this movie, not being a huge Star Wars fan. I enjoyed The Force Awakens as a very casual fan and Rouge One was fine too I guess. I'll spend on money on something better

Also did they legit kill Admiral Ackbar? He's my fav character, I'm sad he died in a stupid way

Where to begin? Luke Skywalker dying of a heart attack or the extent of his "power" being a shitty matrix move which correlates to him having a heart attack? What about the entire fucking movie just being a gigantic one sided space battle? It was about as good as Phantom Menace to me. However, I do think the art direction was pretty unique but it was really just an "eh" movie. I think Rogue One was miles better than this.

This. That is a huge problem with this movie as this feels like tonally a totally different movie from TFA. I mean this film took all the wrong lessons from TFA and said,"those cool and interesting parts that lead people to wonder what was going on? Yeah fuck those parts!" It would have been cool to explore the Knights of Ren with perhaps Kylo conspiring with them to overthrow Snoke if he had to die in such a stupid way. Oh well, this movie will more than likely make bank and we can only hope that the 9th movie can fix the errors of this one.

No it won't. Power Rangers is kicking it's ass.

I liked the film. Solid. Just got back from seeing it and reading the thread.

Honestly, felt like it was 5 hours. felt like there were too many endings. Some parts still feel fan fiction-y to me. Everytime I saw Laura Dern in the film, I was expecting her to just say "Fuck You, x". Also, is she still alive or dead?

I feel bad for Star Wars fans - this movie was fun as hell to watch from a "let's see how much nostalgia-bait Disney can crowbar into one film" standpoint, but I can't imagine it was fun to watch if you actually care about the continuing story of Star Wars.

Shout out to the guys in front of me who started singing the Superman theme when Leia's special Force Recovery power kicked in while she was spaced.

So Rey who only got like 3 minutes of training beating Luke in a one on one battle didn't leave a bad taste in your mouth?

I still say its a fun movie if you get drunk first. But than I say that about That's my boy too.

That's the thing though, you have to either be on something or turn your brain off to enjoy it. And you are paying at least 12 or 13 dollars to do so. Sounds like a ripoff to me when you can do the same thing with just about any other movie.
