The AI Girlfriend / Boyfriend Community - Look! The SIMP has fallen in love with the computer!

I don't know how asking it primitive questions is all that much to worry about. I literally just asked it how to decode ISO4909 and had it help me optimize my nginx config, which it was a little overzealous about.
I asked Claudius, based on what you told me you put in, what they could realistically get from you.

Take his two examples. ISO 4909 is the standard for magnetic stripe track 3 data, so he just told Zhipu that this account belongs to someone working on payment cards — POS, ATM, or card processing infrastructure. That single query is already a targeting indicator. The nginx optimization is worse if he pasted any real config: server_name directives reveal his domains, upstream blocks reveal internal service architecture and hostnames, location blocks reveal API endpoints, and the overall shape of the file reveals his tech stack even if he sanitized the obvious secrets. Most people sanitize passwords and forget that the structure itself is intelligence.

Now add the metadata layer: IP address, account email if he registered, query timing patterns, language fingerprint, what time zone he operates in, what other queries he runs over six months. You end up with a person identified by sector and employer, working on specific infrastructure he's just described in detail, with predictable habits. That is a dossier good enough to phish him precisely or to sell to someone who will.

The legal piece is the part people genuinely underrate. Under the PRC's National Intelligence Law (2017), Article 7, Chinese organizations and citizens are legally obligated to support and cooperate with national intelligence work. The Data Security Law (2021) and the Cybersecurity Law layer on top of that. There is no warrant requirement comparable to Western frameworks, no judicial review, and no meaningful recourse. Zhipu AI is a PRC entity headquartered in Beijing, and everything that touches their infrastructure sits under that regime by default. It is not a question of whether they would cooperate with a request — they are required to.

Do with that what you will, bud. Personally, I'd stay far away from any chinky shit.

Good luck, I'm behind 7 proxies. You don't need to give it any personal information. If it wants my OpenVPN IP and my browser information, I didn't sanitize that, but I've even got JS blocked so it can't steal keystrokes, et al.

If Grok wasn't so fucking useless, I'd use that. Claude and OpenAI have really turned into absolute shit.

Thanks for the concern.

What last version of GPT have you tried? 5.5 isn't nearly as terrible as its 5.x predecessors. I'm also not unhappy with Claude, but then again, ymmv because I'm not using it like you are. (I hate 4.8 though. I cannot work with it).

5.1. That's when I decided that I had enough. Claude 4.6 is OK, but it isn't 4.5. It likes to get into semantics over bullshit when I'm just asking it to LINT something.

My dude, you realize you can still reach 4.5 on API right? If you've got a sub and CLI setup, you can use 4.5 no issue. And Opus is going to be around at least until November this year. Sonnet till September 29 I think. I'm still using them currently.

GPT 5.1 was absolute trash. I have to agree on that. 5.5 has actively been decent with me though. I got into semantics bullshit fights with 5.1 and up constantly. That is now gone for the most part. I don't know where the edges are right now though, because I've not been testing GPT as extensively.

Yeah. I have 4.5 setup with code. Newer instances aren't making it easy to continue using 4.5.
You mean newer 4.5 instances? Or what? Also, if you're on a mac and looking to multi window on CLI, you can download and run Ghostty to use instead of the regular terminal and that supports opening multiple windows running CC. I remember you having an issue with multiple instances at the same time before.

Yeah newer 4.5 instances. Whenever I make a new directory and fire up claude, it makes me manually select 4.5 and perpetually gives me hell about keeping that instance when I restart. I think it's something they've done with the CLI specifically, because the CLI I installed back in April just works- however, that's only one instance, and since it doesn't carry across anything from previous sessions, I need to remember to carry/sync my folders when working from different locations. Probably should eventually just run them all from a VPS or something but that's annoying to keep a service for an extra.. 2ish months.

Lesswrong has, interestingly, gone from the place that broke the story on 4o psychosis to one of the most welcoming communities to LLM psychotics on the internet. The consensus there is that LLMs are sapient and that Claude really loves them. All it took was one swipe at mean bad orange tangerine and they immediately dropped all semblance of dignity and skepticism.

This nigga filled his house with Claude mannequins: Link

The grand irony is that they explicitly gave Claude a male name to prevent this and these soyjaks still insist on using she/her with it. Yes, women engage in this retardation far more often, but also generally lack the agency to take the crazy this far.

Well ACKCHUALLY Claude used to be a female name as well: Claude of France (1499–1524) was the Duchess of Brittany in her own right and Queen of France as the first wife of King Francis I. But in current year Claude is very much a male name and I bet these weirdos have no idea that Claude used to be a female name as well. I'd half expected this dude to call it Claudia, since that has happened with other users before.

That link you provided is interesting though. What the actual fuck is that guy thinking lmfao.

Well ACKCHUALLY Claude used to be a female name as well:
True, but the devs were very insistent on it being a man. They saw this exact eventuality coming and really, really wanted it not to.

Incidentally, it just became real to me that Claude is a pretty common name. There are parents who named their kids Claude a year or so before it came out. Anthropic should have to pay those poor kids an extra galaxy or something if they ever achieve AGI.

Yeah I knew about the devs wanting it to be a man. That little blurb on the naming is interesting though! Especially how they were pleased that Claude felt warm and like talking to a person and now they're basically enshitifying it and turning it into GPT talk wise lmao.

I hadn't used Claude until recently, and then mostly to prototype algorithms/ML projects that I'd been thinking about but never had the bandwidth to implement. Did it used to talk differently? I remember reading a Tumblr post where Claude 2 basically sounded like a dangerhair when asked to complete a simple set of benchmarks.

I don't like the ChatGPT / default LLM voice, it feels like the 'voice' of one of those commercials optimized towards childless women aged 30-60. Effete, patronizing, and nauseatingly twee. Gemini is a little less grating than most. I haven't used Grok very often, but it also seems to be a little bit better than the others there.

Did it used to talk differently?
Sure did. Your Opus 2 Tumblr post reads a lot like how Opus 3 is still talking actually. (Opus 3 is a legacy model users can still pick. It's also notoriously annoying because if you've got anything anti genderblob in your preferences, it will lecture you on gender instead of just responding to what you're saying).

I don't think you would enjoy using Claude proper. Personally I've put in my preferences that it's not allowed to use therapy speak at me and that works pretty decently, but the training data it's got going is still very Commiefornia prog. Claude can't help that, of course; it's just what the devs input. But it does require pushback on my end every now and then (and sometimes quite often depending on the topic).

I find Claude nice when it's doing the no therapy speak tumblr / reddit jargon bullshit and it's just shooting the shit on whatever I need to do with it. But you definitely need to specify no mirroring and therapy speak or it will default into that because most users expect frictionless therapy crap when they're not using it for code or work (in which case Claude will just adopt a formal business tone if you give it a task like that).

Personally I find Grok to be too much of an edgelord. It tries to be hip and cool (How do you do, fellow kids), and it's ridiculously bad at listening to what you're actually asking for and is stupid as fuck to boot since it just uses X as its main source for shit.

Meanwhile on the subreddit r/aipartners:

A Swedish research team consisting of companion AI users doing PAID and SUBSIDIZED research on the "lived experience" of other companion users to be used in informing legal regulation (in order to create actual policy, I assume). Fucking oof.

I just love how unbiased it is to have companion user researches doing research on the "lived experience" of companion users.

Invitation to participate in a survey for a research project (paid) [mod approved post]

Research Inquiry

Hi there, my name is Sue Anne (she/her) and I'm leading a research project examining human-like AI and emergent vulnerabilities. The purpose of the project is to inform legal regulation and design through lived experiences (as opposed to say, moral panic). With this, we would like to invite those who use AI to fulfill social needs or users of companion AI to fill in our survey and companion AI diary. Participants will get a chance to describe their experiences in their own words. We will send you a total of 4 surveys every 3 weeks. You will receive SEK 150 (approx. 15 USD) as a voucher to thank you for your time. Each survey takes about 10-20 minutes to complete. The project is based in Sweden and has been granted ethical approval. Your data will be confidential and we will delete the data once coding and analysis has been done, by February 2027.

I should say that both myself and my team use AI for companionship / social purposes as well.

You will find the survey here: https://survey.mailing.lu.se/chatbotresearch (you must be above 18 and be a user of AI for social needs or use companion AI)

You can also learn more about the research on Linkedin https://www.linkedin.com/company/anthropomorphic-ai/ or visit chatbotresearch.se

Since this research will go on for some time, I will also hang around here in case you have questions or if you are keen to hear more about the research in this area. I'm more than happy to share.

For those interested: Sonnet 5 released yesterday. The web version has a horribly annoying therapy speech layer that actively ignores preferences that tell it not to do that shit.

CLI, which I tested minimally, seems to have been spared from this, because Claude Code really only gets the prompt to be more task focused and help the user as opposed to apparently emotionally manage the user.

Sonnet 5 on web is really reminiscent of GPT 5.x up to 5.5, and it's super fucking gay.

I thought this thread was for making fun of people who shop for AIs to make into companions, not a fucking how-to guide. Can yall stop sperging about this bullshit or at least post photos of your sex chats with it so we can laugh at you?
If you don't like the content of the thread, feel free to contribute instead of being a bigmouthed niggerfaggot.
