Nick said that at his sentencing to the judge. I think all it shows is how dumb the people around him are.
Yeah I remember that one from the KC.
I'm not a lawyer, but I took a hard enough look at law school, the debt it incurs, the perils of the field, and enough of my friends who are trapped making way less than their debts owed. And these Sektur types should've had enough unimpressive lawyers in their life to know that: Lawyer ≠ Smart and Lawyer ≠ Rich
And at the risk of white knighting for
@Potentially Criminal Nick tried saying Sean was bitch made for ever being a prosecutor *and* tried claiming Sean doesn't know anything about the inside of a courtroom. You can make one of those criticisms, but you can't make both.
For anybody thinking about law, there are 2 books I highly recommend:
Con Law and
Don't Go To Law School Unless. My biggest takeaways about law school were: 1) Half of all law school graduates never work in law, so either get into nationally ranked law schools, law schools with good reputations in your area, or be the #1 graduate in any of the others. 2) Internships after your first year are crucial and have a cascading effect on future employment. 3) Even the lawyers who find a job may find themselves in dead end places like document review. 4) Some of those who can't find a job or hate document review establish their own firms. These 1-man "firms" are doomed to fail because the person has no rolodex or reputation, so they wind up writing some wills here and there.
So when I first heard about Nick during the Jack Murphy saga, I was suspicious. I had no information on his background (internships, law school, field, etc), but alarms went off when I saw that he has his own firm because younger people really don't usually do that and find sustained work.
I know we all talk about Nick's lack of experience in a courtroom (which isn't that unusual) but how much work has he done that requires a law degree? I'm willing to accept that he works in copyright law; has he ever really had any clients?
Speaking of work, you can't work as a lawyer until you've passed the bar exam. Nick was admitted to the bar on May 8th, 2015. Unless he graduated from law school in January, he must've failed the bar at least once.
TL;DR: Nick didn't build the foundation of a legal career and even the "small law firm" claim is an exaggeration. Until he provides a law school graduation date and an explanation, he failed the bar. And he bought a house, had kids, and survived extended periods of unemployment because of inter generational wealth as opposed to skill or grit.
