Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

How would that even work?
I know of a tabletop roleplaying game session going like that
Apparently the players were wholly unconcerned about stopping the big bad guy's plans and just spent their time doing sidequests and shit
So eventually the game master just declared that the bad guy's plans went unperturbed, his goal is achieved, and genocide now, the end

So, in video game form, that is quite easy to implement via timers
One game that comes to mind is the original Fallout, whose main quest is on a timer

The modern gamer cannot handle timers.

Hell, based on the bitching I've seen from Wind Waker fanboys about Majoras Mask, I don't think even slightly older gamers could handle them well.

Majora's Mask is a bad example anyway. In MM you actively reset the clock and have several time loopholes to keep things between loops. Unless you're going for the Couple's Mask the game's fairly generous with time bullshit. They're just bitches.

Funny enough, the timer in Fallout barely matters. Because of how it works, it doesn't really force you to rush in playing, it just puts a limit on much you can travel around on the map screen, and you can easily do every quest in the game and finish the story before it's even halfway down. You're only at risk of running out the timer if you're wondering the world map grinding or just walking back and forth between areas dozens of times for some reason.

I always found Majora's Mask hard to get into as a kid, but I don't think it's really the timer so much as the save system. Not being able to save the game and turn it off without resetting the cycle felt bad. I mean, there's the temp saves at owl statues, but it still all felt awkward. It's a lot easier to approach if you can make hard saves mid-cycle so you don't need to reset to day 1 if you think you screwed something up.

I’m a big fan of WW and hated the timer when I first played MM in 2005. It wasn’t until a few years ago that I played through MM for the first time that I actually enjoyed it.

Aahley Williams may be the most overly hated character in video games and I am convinced all the hatred of her online and in the press was mostly people viture signalling by proving they hated the "racist" character more than anyone else.

While we're on the subject of mid-stage Bioware companions: Fenris from Dragon Age 2 is one of the greatest of all time. On a meta-level it's hilarious that somebody snuck their edgy deviantart coldsteel the hedgehog oc into a super cereal Game of Thrones knockoff, but what I find especially funny is how suprisingly not-annoying he is as a character. I guess Anders was just such a titanic faggot that he was like a black hole that sucked all the faggotry out of Fenris's character and took it into himself.
Fuck Anders.

These people hate actual strong female characters. Ashley did nothing wrong and should be looked at as a role model for all young girls.

Actually, if they gave you a real lolbert option in Fallout, it would be to sit in a shack and post all day to Pip-Blog trying to convince the Legion and the NCR to please just stop existing
Well in Fallout 2 you can stand around doing drugs while your wife has sex with other men for money, that's pretty close

False, lolbertarians never marry women. They will, however, try to tell you that it's the fault of DA GOOBERMENT that they can't get a woman to not call the cops on them, then they'll segue into explaining why the age of consent should be lowered using some mumbo-jumbo "logic".

Lolberts are only slightly less delusional than people who support Pol Pot.

Yeah, all she said was that if it came down to it the aliens would sick humanity on the Reapers like a dog on a bear and Mass Effect 3 proved her 100% right.

She didn't want anything to do with Cerberus(again right)and she didn't trust Shepard because clones and mind control chips exist, so why should she before he has proven he is the real Shepard.

I like her and think the hate is way over blown.

To be fair everyone turned Retard in Mass Effect 2 so it is hard to tell what would have happened if the series writing didn't go down the shitter.

Is it me or are Korean based shooters faster than what we have in the West? To me, they all blur together from Counter Strike's skeleton.

There's literally a Korean Counter-Strike. They used to all play the same, games like war rock, combat arms, etc. Where you had to temporarily lease not only weapons but their attatchments. Back when games didn't really have attatchment systems this was a cool way to have gun builds but they came with a massive time investment or a need to pay real cash if you wanted to maintain your loadouts.

These days Korean games are very polished, can usually be played for free but are very addictive and grindy still. They narrowed their old tricks to a science.
