USCIS subreddit is already seething. For those without trophy wife mail-order brides, let me explain the intention of the I-485, Adjustment of Status (AOS), application.

When someone comes to America on a temporary basis, like as a tourist, student, or for a short business trip, they use what is called a ‘non-immigrant visa’ or a visa waiver. Now, if you happen to get married/pregnant, the I-130+I-485 applications allow you to become a permanent resident while staying in the U.S. The intention is for bona fide families to be able to remain together without too much burden.

Now, of course there are a whole class of people who abuse this system, often with large sums of money involved, because this process is not only faster than consular processing (getting a green card outside of America), but non-immigrant visas are also easier to get. There is a legitimate purpose for the AOS system, but it makes sense that DHS would try to seal up loopholes enabled by it.

FYI I made a thread about this:

Visited Washington DC today and you know what? It felt... safe. I didn't feel like I was going to be mugged and then raped to death by a pack of feral niggers. It was clean, the stoplights worked, traffic wasn't even that bad. White people were walking confidently and like they had a will to live. The only brownoids on the street were dressed like white people.

It was fucking weird. Hasn't felt like that in decades.

for my friends, Mountain Dew; for my enemies, Diet Mountain Dew
Why do you hate my kidneys sir?

Mountain Dew is the drink that physically assaults you
legislation on this issue is about what everyone in the country can have easy access to
Pretty sure everyone has access to the internet and while I haven't checked myself I think you would be hard-pressed to name a state that doesn't have some kind of rancher presence.

The issue isn't access its purchasing and consumption habits. People want their nicely sliced pre-prepped cuts of meat in wrapped plastic without having to put anymore than the absolute bare minimum effort into it.

From where I sit, if you value your food safety and cleanliness, having it go through as few hands as possible before it's packed away in your fridge and freezer is the single biggest thing you can do.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

If this works, great, awesome, I'd love Clippy 2.0: This time it actually fucking works helping me do my job. But that's not what we're gonna get. We're gonna get pink slips and then Rakanishu will be given our jobs until Clippy 3.0 can replace Rakanishu.
That could be - it's certainly a possibility that can't be ignored. But that assumes that AI is going to continue to scale at the same pace it has over the past two years and that the bubble isn't going to burst within the next decade or so. While there will be and has been an overall decrease in SW jobs I'm not (yet) of the opinion that it'll completely supercede them. Plus, while you're right that the poos are going balls deep into investing into specialized LLMs, they're not the only ones with access to it. Anything an Indian can do, a White guy can do more efficiently and...well, better. The difference in quality between a jeet vibe coding all their shit with Claude and an actual SWE using it to augment their work is night and day.

I'm also convinced that we're beginning to hit a wall with what AI is actually capable of doing by itself. For instance Opus 4.7 costs five times as much per request as Opus 4.6 (15x that of Sonnet/GPT 5.4), and it does not perform 5x better by any metric at least from what I've seen. Not to mention the logistical bottleneck of supporting the innumerable data centers required to meet demand for these things.

I dunno, I'm in the middle with all of the AI and LLM stuff. Frankly I can be convinced either way and I've oscillated between "it's so over" and "it's so back" for the past couple years. In general I think it's too early to start *truly* dooming, but I'm open to being proven wrong. Hopefully not though.

For what its worth, pricing is still well below cost for most of the models, and its only just starting to go up some. Once they start actually pricing to break even, much less to make money, it's just gonna get worse as they fall into a cycle of reduced audience due to price, increasing the fixed-cost load of every other user, decreasing userbase even more. Like all cloud infrastructure, it only works at or above a certain scale of use.

‘Trump House’ owner’s wife gives horrifying update after attack on husband outside San Diego home

The wife of the elderly San Diego man brutally beaten outside his MAGA-inspired “Trump House” said there’s “no hope” for her husband after the vicious attack left him fighting for his life.

Kerry Sheron, 69, was in critical condition following the violent assault outside his Escondido property on Wednesday afternoon.

His wife, Maria, revealed to The California Post through tears that her husband isn’t expected to survive.

Maria told the Post she believes her husband was targeted over the displays.

After the attack, Butler fled the scene on foot before officers nabbed nearby and took him into custody.
