Which currency do you think has the best chance of replacing the US Dollar as currency for petroleum trading right now?, Yuan?, Euro?
Considering the Norwegians clearly orchestrated this and are profiting like robbers from it, the NOK.

Also provides for great jokes like; NOK NOK, who's there? FUCK YOUR RUSSIAN PIPELINE, THAT'S WHO!

The Chinese Guangjian-21A directed-energy weapon (DEW), designed for counter-drone operations, has been observed deployed at Dubai International Airport in the UAE. China sells drones to Iran then sells anti-drone tech to the UAE. Very jewish of the chinks.
Heyyyy that’s OUR thing. Only America can sell weapons to all sides! Fuck off chinks.

It's one of Trump's boomerisms. He is absolutely terrified of nukes to an almost autistic degree, which is a good thing when dealing with Iran since they'd immediately use one if they could, but it also means he's very wary of escalation loops. He's fine blowing up military assets, but he seems jumpy at the thought of any American lives being put at real risk.
I'm kinda surprised he didn't react more to Iran getting lucky the first day with that drone attack in Kuwait.

In other news, this is from the standard "unnamed sources," but if true, that's a massive stab in the back from a country that spent a lot of time talking tough during the bombing campaign while continuing to do nothing but send strongly worded letters.
Arabia has learned from Europe well.

Read between the lines

Iran bitched to Pakistan that Project Freedom was going to force them to dump even the pretense of negotiating. Pakistani izzat would take a mortal blow. Unacceptable. Pakistan bitched to Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia values its relationship with Pakistan very highly, for some reason (okay the reason is Pakistan is very accommodating wrt giving Saudi Arabia nuclear weapons development data). Saudi Arabia cucked to Pakistan by bitching to Trump. Saudi Arabia denying use of Prince Sultan and its airspace makes the blockade much more difficult. The blockade is too important to let it be hindered, it's fucking Iran hard so anything that hinders it is to be avoided. So Trump placated Saudi Arabia to keep the blockade from being hindered

tldr Trump respecc Pakistani izzat and I'm gonna throw up

It puts Trump's actions in a whole new, much less cuckish light.
With Pakistan and the Saudis being a bunch of whiny bitches, Trump decided to spin the stoppage as a way to pump stocks and lower oil prices for a few days by acting like they were definitely on the verge of a real breakthrough this time, even when their proposal (the WSJ one that actually makes sense, not the Axios nonsense) has enough poison pills to choke a rhino.

By the way, does anyone know when the USS Boxer is finally supposed to arrive? Feels like that thing's been transiting for two months now.

I want the Jap Yen 1980s value back. That way I can make neo schizo theories about ultra building projects instead of gay property land grabs that the Chinese do.

China is very boring since they enjoy smuggling their money via land purchases. Japs do mega projects.

Euros are as valuable as the Australians dollar. Interchangeable with the Chinese Yuan.

I doubt they needed Pakistan to twist their arm. They're likely incredibly pissed about the UAE leaving OPEC and want things to go back to the status quo ASAP.

That would probably be another reason the umbrella got cancelled. Base access in the ME is always a squirrely proposition because these guys are so unpredictable. They like having us there, but they generally don't like us actually using our shit for anything other than police actions. Being able to fly out of SA is a big reason we were able to carry out Epic Fury in the first place.

The Saudis in particular are notorious for being really picky about going through the processes to gain permissions for stuff, and Trump's impulsiveness probably did as much to hamper that as anything. If he'd started coordinating that about a week out or so, there's a better chance he'd have gotten the green light. So we'll see if they go about things the way the Saudis want it done, or we look for alternatives for where to base those aircraft if we need them ready right away.

Is that supposed to be a bad thing?
Absolutely not, but there's a fine line between wanting to minimize casualties, and letting risk aversion hamper your military's ability to carry out the mission you've assigned to them. Stuff like this actually makes me believe those news stories about him freaking out when the F-15 got shot down, and they had to put him in a Presidential time-out room so they could properly coordinate the rescue.

I fucking call bullshit on the gulf countries not knowing that something is going on.
Searching "USAF" on the Bellum Acta telegram channel and you can clearly see sudden USAF activity over their airspace starting on the 3rd of March.
And this is public too so they don't have an excuse to bitch and moan about it.

Trump praised this segment on Watters tonight.

Not as good as the segment he praised last week, where the guy said for Pakistan to eat a dick, but he does point out how unlikely it is for Iran to honor any deal, even if they pretend to for a while.
He also mentions what we've been mentioning in this thread a lot, where even with a deal, the regime could easily collapse by year's end via a combination of war damage, Mossad continuing to fuck around, and their own population wanting them all overthrown.

Speaking of Watters, he gave a version of the current proposal during his opening monologue that's even better than the WSJ version.
According to him, the twenty-year moratorium is fake news. They're never allowed to enrich ever.
We'll relax the blockade only once Iran makes a real effort to open the Strait first, toll-free.
We could unfreeze some assets, but no sanctions relief until we see substantial evidence that they're actually complying and not just stringing us along.

So thats never happening.
Trumps going to look like a retarded boomer when he finds out Iran played the US president for the nth time.
The only way to redeem his izzat is to bomb Iran again.

Part of it may have just been that almost no ships were taking up the offer.
Why waste resources setting up a 24/7 security zone when the ship captains still refuse to budge even after it's been proven they'll be protected?
Its not the captains call. It's the insurance company refusing them to do anything that is even slightly risky. And sitting parked is no risk. They don't give a shit if that cargo never moves if they can avoid any risk at all of a claim.
The crew on these ships are completely expendable 3rd worlders. If anyone was actually concerned about them we would be hearing about the shipping companies rotating them out back over land with fresh crew.
