Aster reschedules the flight again.

She still feels ill.

Her temp is a whopping 99.5 degrees Fahrenheit (37.5 degrees Celsius)

But it's lower when the nurses check it.

Someone on TikTok tells her she should go to the ER. Aster gets mad about it.

Aster reschedules her plane ticket again.

This means she needs more hotel money.

Aster's mom calls her up and tells her that nobody believes she's actually going to leave Phoenix anymore.
(She's like a video game antagonist who hacks your comms to tell you that the plot is progressing.)

Aster thinks the hotel is still randomly charging her.

Another ER trip.

Her temp reads as 99.5 while she's there. Maybe they'll believe her this time.

She bleeds after getting her blood drawn.

Aster fights the temptation to lay down on the hospital floor.

Aster waits around in the hospital. The person Aster is supposed to be staying with puts in their 1 month notice on their lease. They tell Aster she should still be able to stay, though.

Aster wants to die.

Aster's mom texts her. She says that she gives up trying to be a parent to her.
The texts are heart-wrenching.

Aster waits for her test results to decide her fate.

The test results tell her to go home, and she's discharged.

Aster's mom texts her again.

Aster wants to cut contact with both her mom and Sunny.

The next day, she resumes her normal daily life and Ubers to the laundromat. Her driver tells her that a woman recently self-immolated in the hotel she's staying at.

Aster hears that her urine culture grew another superbug, but the count is low.

Her urologist doesn't want to treat it.

But the hospital prescribes her something. Aster says she can't take it because of her EDS.

Aster pays for more nights at the hotel. She's back at $0/375 for flight fees.

A few days after her previous ER visit, Aster throws up "literally everywhere" while trying to clean up her "disgusting" hotel room. She goes back to the ER.
(She's also not letting room service into her room during her stay.)

She goes to a different hospital so she can get another culture.

Her doctor agrees to do what Aster wants. Therefore, she is a good doctor.

Aster gets admitted.

She's looking a little rough.

Aster and her mom get into an argument over the anitbiotic that Monique is taking. Aster thinks it isn't EDS-safe.

Aster gets discharged on IV antibiotics. She'll have to stay in Arizona for another 14 days. This will cost about $1000.

Another Klarna payment declines.

Aster asks for $30 for a smoothie and some soda.

She gets it. The smoothie slaps.

Aster is feeling better.

She posts some more documents as proof.

Aster kind of wants an elastometric IV pump.

Aster also wants a Nintendo Switch.

And she wants to spend $60 to get the sides of her head shaved.

Aster briefly tries and fails to go on a self-prescribed all liquid diet.

Aster also wants $30 for a lunch treat.

She gets the haircut and asks if someone can buy her masks.

More money down the drain.

And more surprise regularly occurring monthly charges.

Aster has a genius idea: Use Klarna to pay for her hotel.

Aster has given up on even trying to get on disability.

Aster calls the pharmacy. She thinks she's allergic to her antibiotic, but she really really hopes she's not.

She goes to the hospital.

And feels seizure-y

The shit-ass doctor thinks she fine. Aster is mad.

Aster needs to order a couple of pajama sets online.

Aster's friend buys her a portable, foldable, mini washing machine. It's literally lifesaving.

Aster keeps missing the (probably free) hotel breakfasts.

Aster has been feeling she/her pronouns.

Piss spilled everywhere count: 22

Aster needs benadryl for her anaphylactic reaction to IV antibiotics. Her finances are spiraling out of control.

Aster just can't get any help at all, despite jumping through so many hoops. (She has only applied for disability once, like 4 or 5 years ago now.)

She complains about her mom.

Aster switches to a new sad alter and feels down. This sad alter has been fronting a lot, lately.

She starts to reconsider going to Oregon. (Turns out, the EDS doctors are all slammed, because Tumblr and spoonie culture are super popular there.)

Aster thinks that without a urostomy, she'll continue her downward health spiral.

Aster posts in the Oregon EDS group. They tell her that the waitlists are crazy.

It seems like Aster is giving up on going to go to Oregon.

She starts looking for apartments.

Her friends encourage her. One of them tells her to gets her cat registered as an emotional support animal so she can't be charged pet rent.

She wonders if she could lie about her mom being an imminent threat and stay at a DV shelter again.

Then she picks up some packages from her mom. She hopes her mom finally gives her that laptop she's been promising her.

Aster doesn't even have enough for the application fees.

Aster has a fever.

And she has blood chunks in her urine.

Aster asks her mom to cosign for an apartment for her.

Aster's mom instead suggests a conservatorship or guardianship. Aster freaks out.

Later, Aster gloats about being right about scaring her mom about taking her antibiotic because her mom experiences achilles tendon pain.

Aster can't think of any jobs to do. Well, she can, but they wouldn't pay well. So why bother.

Aster is keyed up on steroids. She thinks they triggered hypomania.

Aster successfully sells her flight credit.

Aster takes half a leftover risperidone so she can sleep.

Aster maybe gets banned from Venmo

It gets resolved.

She's not having much success cleaning piss off the carpet. This is probably from her previous two spills.

Aster goes in for an MRI

Another $20 smoothie.

Aster thinks she's gonna get sent to the ER for pus and pain at her suprapubic catheter site.

The nurse line tells her to just monitor it. Aster still wants the $20, but for delivery tylenol, now.

She doesn't really feel supported by her friends and followers. She apparently has a hotel payment in 10 hours.

Aster lies about a telemed appointment to her nursing company so that they don't come earlier than she expected.

Aster spends some time cleaning up before the nurse comes.

The nurse still thinks it's filthy.

And the nurse thinks her port looks fine.

Aster thinks that the flavor of potatoes changed a few years ago. Now, most of them (except baked potato insides) taste a little like dirt.

More health troubles

We learn that Aster did indeed get an elastometric IV pump. Probably through insurance. Poking around, it seems like they're around $400 without it.

Aster deserves to know whether or not her followers are white or nonblack so that she knows if they're a threat or not.

Aster goes in for her urosurgery consultation at the cancer institute.

She won't be able to get the surgery until March or April.

Aster is mad that she still hasn't gotten that spare laptop from her bitch mom.

She posts the details of her urosurgery consultation. There are a lot of risks, and it could kill her. But it's her only choice.
She dismisses the danger of infection, saying that she already has infections all the time anyways.
It could reduce her intestinal motility further, and Aster doesn't want it to get worse, but she's familiar with the risk, so it's OK if it happens.
It's permanent. But Aster already needs some permanent solution to her urinary problems, so that's fine.

I'm pretty sure this is her doctor: Dr. George Kallingal, MD

- Associated with the Army
- Does robot-assisted surgery
- Cancer urosurgeon that also does non-cancer operations
- The only urologist at the Dignity Health Cancer Institute, which is in a Phoenix hospital. (The only other "cancer institute" in the area is "Phoenix Cancer Institute", but they seem like a small organization that doesn't have surgeons.)
Aster feels discouraged by unsolicited advice she received about removing her bladder. (Aster deleted the comment right away, so we don't get to learn what it said. Probably something like "holy shit don't remove your bladder for no reason, jesus fucking christ.")

Aster binges on some snacks that she bought with food stamps.

Aster can't move hotels because Klarna won't allow her to use pay-it-later.

Aster re-explains why she's worried about finding another apartment. The main reason is that she surrendered an apartment due to mold, and the remaining payments went to collections.

Aster goes to a homeless shelter to ask about resources.

They don't take her seriously. She wonders if they would have taken her more seriously if she had kept her port accessed.

Aster asks about getting a debit card that's not attached to her real identity so she can hide her account balance and donation income from Social Security Services.

More texts between Aster and her mom. It seems like Aster asked if she could move back in. Her mom tries to set some rules. The most important rule is that Aster can't post about her negative online, as it's effectively "witchcraft" and invites "mass curses" on Monique and Sunny.

Aster looks into long-term care, but finds out she has to be on SSI first.

She thinks she has found an apartment.

Aster gets evaluated for autism for some reason.

Aster's PCP is trying to save her from the out-of-state neurosurgeon that charges $100k to treat occult tethered cord.

But Aster finds out they probably don't take medicaid anyways.

Aster makes a joke: "got my suprapubic catheter placed at claire's". It gets very few notes. She repeats it over and over ad nauseum for the next two years.

(A month later)
