The other day, someone was talking to me about Trump's reaction to that guy dying. We agreed that the same people who grave danced over Charlie's Kirk's death have no right to moralfag about Trump doing the same thing. The hypocrisy eventually gets so tiresome that average people who are lukewarm about Trump at best are more turned off by the same hate hurled his way that's deemed unacceptable to be directed towards anyone else.
What grinds my gears about this is seeing newspaper articles pearl clutching over day care workers who are grossly underpaid and lack adequate resources for their kids while this blatant corruption takes place with nobody batting an eye over it. Sure, government programs are always going to have waste, corruption, and fraud to an extent. However, the millions to billions being given to fraudsters could instead be given to the day care workers who genuinely care about the children under their care and could do more if they instead received the extra money being used for anything but daycare by these slimy profiteers. In California, though, nothing surprises me because they've always hated anyone pointing out their fraud, corruption, and hypocrisy.
Even if I agree with the governor's premise that minors shouldn't be on video without their faces blurred, there's still the root issue of bogus daycare pocketing money and doing little to nothing for the kids under their care. The governor's social media staff may think the reply is the perfect burn and epic own, but they seem blissfully unaware they simply set themselves up for an even better one-up response.
Hand in hand with the above, they think an epic own or online outrage is all is takes to discredit someone or their arguments. Years ago, I recall someone who blogged about California's state legislature objecting to being called "girly men" by then Governor Schwarzenegger while completely ignoring the claim they cared more about special interest groups than their constituents. It's easier to show mock outrage than it is to do something more meaningful or address the underlying issue.
