Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were killed by their son, Nick, multiple sources confirm to PEOPLE.

On Sunday, Dec. 14, at about 3:30 p.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) was called to a home to provide medical aid, the LAFD told PEOPLE. Upon arrival, they found a man, 78, and a woman, 68, dead. Sources confirm the victims were Rob and Michele.

Rob is a director, producer and actor whose career includes some of Hollywood’s most beloved films — from his 1984 directorial debut, This Is Spinal Tap, to Stand by Me (1986), The Princess Bride (1987), When Harry Met Sally... (1989), Misery (1990) and A Few Good Men (1992).

He first became famous for his role as Mike on the Norman Lear TV sitcom All in the Family.

Rob was born in the Bronx, N.Y., in 1947. His father was legendary comedian Carl Reiner and his mother was actress and singer Estelle Lebost.

Rob and Michele met when Rob directed When Harry Met Sally, and the couple married in 1989 before having three children.

Previously, Rob was married to the late Penny Marshall, who died in 2018 at age 75 of complications from diabetes.

In a 2016 interview with PEOPLE, Nick spoke about his years-long struggle with drug addiction, which began in his early teens and eventually left him living on the streets. He said he cycled in and out of rehab beginning around age 15, but as his addiction escalated, he drifted farther from home and spent significant stretches homeless in multiple states.

Nick told PEOPLE that the chaotic period of addiction — including nights and sometimes weeks sleeping outside — later became the basis for the semi-autobiographical film Being Charlie, which he co-wrote.

“Now, I’ve been home for a really long time, and I’ve sort of gotten acclimated back to being in L.A. and being around my family," Nick told PEOPLE at the time.

An aerial view of a Brentwood home where paramedics and police responded Sunday afternoon after reports that 2 individuals were found dead inside.

Two people were found dead Sunday afternoon inside a Brentwood home owned by director and actor Rob Reiner, multiple law enforcement sources told NBCLA.

The LA Fire Department said a man and a woman were found deceased inside, approximately 78 and 68 years old.

LAPD Robbery Homicide Division detectives were assigned to the case. Several other LAPD officials said they were aware of the investigation but could not share any information.

There is a large police presence at the home Sunday evening.

LAFD paramedics were called to the home on Chadbourne Avenue around 3:30 p.m.

Within a few minutes, LAPD officers were dispatched to the home for a report of an, "ambulance death investigation," which is LAPD terminology when officers are called by firefighters to the discovery of a death.

Neighbors said Reiner and his wife live in the home, and property records indicate they own the home.

First of all, yes, Nick Reiner may have been a grown ass man but the dynamics between him and his parents that enabled him to become an addict didn't just sprout up overnight as soon as he turned 18. Secondly, all of that is besides the point. My point is simply this: This man spent all his time bitching about Donald Trump. What Donald Trump was doing, what Donald Trump was saying, what Donald Trump was up to, what Donald Trump's supporters were up to. Who people should vote for, what they should believe. What he should have been doing, was keeping an eye on his own back garden. He should have been managing his own affairs before telling people what to do with theirs.

Because, ironically, I don't think Donald Trump's sons (or 5) would ever stab him to death.

That's pretty sad if that's the case. Sure, Nick is a grown man, but having your old man ramble about some public figure more than he ever talks about you is a little defeating. Unless he requested privacy, it'd hit your self-esteem that he doesn't feel comfortable bringing you up in conversation.

i was going to give trump the benefit of the doubt (maybe trump thought rob died of natural causes and shit on rob from the grave). but rob and michele both dying. trump had to know they were both murdered. tbh, not a good look for trump.
Nah, this will be forgotten by end of day. Supporters will like it or shrug, haters will mald and seethe, POTUS will do something else and the news cycle will move on.

He made it sound like the son stabbed them over his TDS and yeah, I can see why he would.

"YES, I KNOW YOU HATE THE DAMN FUCKING TRUMP, DAD, WE KNOW, SHUT UP, SHUT UP, SHUT THE FUCK UUUUP" *stab stab stab*

Something something clean your room something.

Why does everyone in the thread hate Rob Reiner so much? I don't get it.

Anyway, looks like the drug addicted failson fell off the wagon. He probably wanted money and was told no.
Because he was a fat retard. Every single time he posted on social media or spoke it would be the same shit.

“HUGFFFGHH Trump is Hitler *faaarrttt* Trump is the reason the world sucks. Republicans are evil. Indians have souls and are people. Trump is the ultimate evil. Charlie Kirk dying was good RRHRRDSHHfffgg - Trump bad. Trump evil.”

He was like a Reddit poster in both IQ, soul, and ethics. Dude, went legitimately, retarded.

It sounds like the parents did what they could to get their son treatment to the point of cutting him off (resulting in bouts of homelessness). Claimed back in 2015 he’d been to rehab 18 times by his mid-twenties. The other two kids are apparently successful and normal. Sometimes you can do everything “right” and still get the worst outcome.
From what I’ve read they put into rehab when he was 15 and was just a dumb kid doing Mickey Mouse experimental drug use. Rehab taught him about doing real drugs. After that he was sent to a series of very posh rehabs that he consistently ran away from. His “homeless street” living was basically just stints running away from six figure rehabs.

The Dopey podcast he was on is basically him talking to two other druggie nepo babies. Nick is very anti-rehab. I guess the movie his dad made is about rehab not always being the answer, and maybe a predatory industry. Idk, not interested in watching it either.

I get the idea Nick’s problems went well beyond drug addiction, but idk. Seems like he should be like the two Dopey podcast hosts if he was a typical druggie rich kid, not violently stabbing his very indulgent gravy train parents to death.

A lot of parents would prefer drug addiction to be the issue vs serious mental illness (irony is it’s usually both) because you can fix drug addiction if you stop doing drugs but there’s no good solution to serious mental illness (ironically the only help tends to be other types of drugs). The way Nick looked in those recent photos reads as a man on anti-psychotics. Given his views on drug rehab I’d bet he was equally antagonistic towards psychiatrist. I’m not a big psychiatrists because they hand labels, pills and bad advice to normies but they are your only option for actual, severe mental problems. (Which is why psychiatrists try to avoid real mentally ill people and prefer rich narcs that like to talk about themselves. LA specializes in the later, they should force them all to take a dozen patients from skid row.)

I don't think anyone is obligated to take the high road and be the better man after the absurd amount of gleeful grave dancing every single person left of center did after Kirk got shot.

That ship has sailed.
This will likely shock you, but I doubt 30% of the people who voted Democrat in 2024 knew who Charlie Kirk was. Maybe 35% had heard the name before in passing. If you did an exit poll and asked what Turning Point USA was, I doubt more than 20% could have answered correctly.

The shocking part about the Kirk grave dancing was a bunch of social media poisoned white people pretending Charlie Kirk mattered to them in any way prior to him being assassinated.

Broke brained A&N helmet heads being joyous over Meathead dying is far more understandable, as he was a sworn enemy of Trump, which outweighs any contribution anyone can make to society and culture.

Unironically, it was illegal Mexican cartels that brought in the drugs that got the son addicted which resulted in him gutting both parents like a fish.

Still hate ICE celeb lib shits? Lol. 😎

All things considered, he had minor political disagreements with a fair chunk of the country but also had common ideas with a lot of them.

One of the annoying things about Boomers is how, when you scratch the surface of a nominally far-left belief, a lot of it isn't deeply held, it's just parroting what someone else said. Once they decide they're team D, they never reconsider.

"Stand By Me" is not a radical left film by any measure, and "All in the Family" has held up very well.

"But I must doonk upon people who have slighted me," cries the Millennial Chad who makes $140k in his blue-collar job and who has his house paid off. "I can't stand a universe where an old man with politics that were solidified sixty years ago tells me that my lifestyle and ethos are imperfect. My blonde wife and three Aryan children aren't capable of withstanding this kind of agitprop."

Show me on the doll where Rob Reiner touched you.
He and Norman Lear dedicated a bunch of their life to portraying their political opponents as straw man and ensuring their opponents couldn’t break into Hollywood or entertainment. He was 1000% for debanking and censoring his opponents. The Prop 8 shit he did was the precursor to much of the issues we have now.

No one deserves to be stabbed to death by their junkie kid, but do not absolve him of being a hyper-partisan faggot. Don’t pull up don’t clip of an actor pretending like he doesn’t want his enemies kids raped. He was part of the machine that made our politics worse.

It’s ironic how he was lecturing people on how the world should be and how they should live their lives while his own son killed him in the most gruesome way maybe if he spent that time raising his son he would still be alive
