From quick googling, it's pretty uncommon for zoos to have kiwi exhibits because they are expensive. I would expect that the Louis and Peaches Owen Foundation had that kind of money, but most of it probably goes to the Owens' junkie grandkid these days.

Seriously though, I'm fully expecting Nick to have serious money problems next year unless he gets a massive boost from his enabling parents.
- He still has five kids to feed and Kayla is eating more too.
- He has constant legal issues and has White as a lawyer. I doubt he works for free.
- He has a lot of new "legally prescribed pharmaceuticals" that cost money.
- Nobody in the house has a paying job

I doubt the 18 year old is living independently yet, but even if he is, it's just one person less. The kids also have all kinds of activities. (Actually, they might all be canceled by now for all we know.)
It's true that the drugs are quite cheap, but it's still an extra expense when Nick is already resorting to buing clothes from goodwill.

The only reason I am doubtful for the trustfund bailout, is that they didn't bail Nick out from the forclosure. Nick didn't pay his mortgage for a full year, while his parents were travelling around the world.

I do think all your suggested reasons for a meltdown are likely, except for divorce. Kayla is too much of a useless whore and fat nerd to get a divorce from her bald cuck husband.

I think Nick is either drinking or is abusing prescription meds, (he has either a doctor over prescribing him or is still using his dealer, but now for prescription drugs)

I'm leaning towards the latter, he wouldn't have the self control if alcohol was reintroduced to his life to not go on a very noticable bender.

The nitrous and the amount he is doing could be responsible for the rosacea and the nose. He could be drinking but all the stuff he is doing with nitrous and vaping says to me that he is almost constantly fighting the urge to drink. I also kind of think he isn't the type to be able to drink just a little. If he started drinking again, he would quickly spiral and couldn't really control it.

But with Nick, anything is possible. The guy was/is a total unrepentant degenerate alcoholic. There would be nothing surprising if he were sneaking drinks on the side.
