I think the average person has a tendency to believe people, particularly when lies are told with no identifiable motive or purpose. ( "why would anyone lie about THAT ?" ) Anyone who has known a pathological liar in real life, however, realizes that certain people tell lies impulsively. Junkies, for example, do this. They get so used to lying about drug use that they lie about other things. Often these lies come up out of nowhere, with no particular reason. Then there are malicious liars who have no shame manipulating others. These are the scary ones.

I think Pat falls into both categories. He tells dumb kiddie lies impulsively to bolster his fake persona and he tells malicious lies to get what he wants ( i.e. manufacturing "evidence" against patposters ). He believes that he has some kind of Sun Tzu genius-level deception skill but any reasonable person can see that he is a lying, retarded psycho.
