What if instead, we were to take a percentage of the corporate profits generated by using cheap foreign labor as taxes and put that back into American education, infrastructure and everything else in places that have been left behind by the shifting economy? Why chase the 90s instead of trying to harness all the benefits of a modern globalized economy and distributing the gains to American people? Could be handing out scholarships to get kids in the appalachians on the path to good high-skill union work instead of hoping and praying that all the factories will come back so Americans can sit there and build ball bearings all day. This is my issue with the republican vision of the future, the plan is to get rid of all the foreigners, spend a trillion dollars on ice or whatever with the end goal of living in 30 years ago.
