Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

I could never get into the series because of the convoluted plot. I also don't like the tonal sinusoid of high ranking soldiers and covert agents fighting vampires, flamethrower wielding astronauts, and mooing robots. I know it's Japan, but it's just too much. I don't want to watch 5h+ of cutscenes of that shit.
I only got into Metal Gear recently and I agree with your second point. The plot isn't that convoluted, at least until 4 actively tried to make everything into a big twist and Kojima was clearly huffing his own farts. But the tonal clash between "nuclear war bad" and all the magic and robots is exhausting. Like pick a direction, either be a silly game that's lampooning on war and spy movies or be a serious analysis of the global war economy and nuclear proliferation.

The first Tomb Raider game is a tedious piece of shit. Oh what's that, your jump angle onto the poorly textured platform ledge was 0.1 degrees off? Lol now you're dead from either ludicrous fall damage, or landing next to an overpowered enemy you can barely fight thanks to the shitty camera providing awful combat. There goes a half-hour of progress unless you save every 2 minutes like an autistic maniac! Its designers should be banished, and whoever inflated Lara's tits by accident is the sole reason this hot mess became a franchise.

Well the ESRB was created as a response to Mortal Kombat being seen as too violent, duh.

In fact, Mortal Kombat was originally rated "MA-13", indicating that it is equally as gory as an execution by the infamous MA-13 street gang.

He's right though. I played a lot of MK as a kid. I went around ripping out spines and turning people into penguins because i wanted to be a ninja. Kids are impressionable, man. Hard to separate vidya from rl.
Director of our school installed ceiling spikes so we could fatality each other on lunch breaks. Good times.

I'm about the same even though i haven't played the recent Metal Gear remake but the plot and politics were never extremely sophisticated. The difference came from it being buried in sci fi and almost magic nonsense. Anyone taking the politics seriously is a fool despite how interesting it is for the series but it's cake between all the cyborgs and psychic children running around

He worked on it, but he wasn't the director, the most important role on the team. Like how Shinji Mikami worked on RE2 as an oversight role and you can very clearly see it's a Kamiya game. Same with RE4 which became DMC1 because of Kamiya's distaste for horror and love of traditional action games. It just doesn't make sense to blame Kamiya for what happened to any of the other Bayo games, he was a consultant at best, and was actively directing his own game project GG.
Again, my point being he was involved regardless and acted like everything went according to plan.

Well he's not going to disparage his game or his team. I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. We may find aspects of it disappointing but every part of its design was deliberate. Just tells me they're not very good writers.

My main point is just that saying "Kamiya did this" is misplacing blame because he wasn't directing the title. We know what games directed by Kamiya are, they're literally the best games ever made. DMC1, Viewtiful Joe, Bayo1, Wonderful 101.

We clearly don't see things the same way so I'm not going to bother going in any more circles. Bottom line is 2 and 3 got fucked.

I think the 2D F-Zero games are better than the 3D ones. By a lot. Everyone always talks about how great X and GX were, but any of the 2D ones are better than both combined. Except GP Legends. That one sucks.

One thing I like about Sniper Elite is that it has all of the stealth of MGS without the Kojima crap.

Berri's death really sours the ending of Conker's Bad Fur Day.
I guess that's the point but it's just not a good way to end a comedy game.
The whole downer ending thing just came out of nowhere and was kind of needlessly cruel.

To me, Conker feels like two games spliced together. The daytime levels are mostly light and fun platforming with raunchy humor. And then it goes to night and things get darker and more serious with the Vampire level and the war. There were still funny moments but it feels disjointed.

I wish they could have done the planned sequel 'Conker's Other Bad Fur Day' but oh well.

Loki is still annoying me but there's definitely a lot I had forgotten about Bayonetta 2. I think I previously only had played through it once. It kind of seems like there isn't as much exploration so far? I mean you can only go like 3 steps without enemies spawning. Its wild. I'm not saying that didn't happen in 1 because it did but more...how you say spaced out?

I also just randomly scanned my amiibo and I got a fucking Chain Chomp as a weapon?! I'm delighted. I call him Doggo. He barks and if you leave Bayo idle he falls asleep. Just like Mario in most games.

I don't care I need these gimmicks in more games. Apparently Nintendo requested Hyrule Bayonetta have her cleavage exposed when Kamiya was going to originally keep it undershirt.

What happened to that Nintendo we all knew?
