Do "old and obscure games" enthusiasts actually enjoy old and obscure games?
They are plagued by that same breed of ironic twitter weeb that always flagellate themselves over how better than those uncivilized japs they are anytime something pervy or mocking trannies shows up in their games. That Punchy person is a golden example as he jerked himself off on bluesky over how every ESL saying black company sounded like a racist chud.

the games sometimes do a nasty no-no thing and they have to perform a humiliation ritual rolling their eyes going OLD GAMES AMIRIGHT?!11? so they can score good goy boy points to redeem for a 1 hour ERP session with a private groomcord's headtroon or whatevers the hotness these days
Every time a tranny whines about people saying retard in Popful Mail, an angel dies. (That also goes for direct-translation jihadists pissing themselves over Working Designs existing.)

as newton said, ytbers like this just wanna look like they're the smartest person in the room because they know about old japanese vidyas that have only ever gotten a passing remark on some game mag decades ago, all performative! the games sometimes do a nasty no-no thing and they have to perform a humiliation ritual rolling their eyes going OLD GAMES AMIRIGHT?!11? so they can score good goy boy points to redeem for a 1 hour ERP session with a private groomcord's headtroon or whatevers the hotness these days
Exactly. It is performative. All they value from niche media is (1) how "special" it is to know niche shit and (2) to mind-numbingly politicize it.

Here's the specific tweet (I'd archive it but idk of any bluesky archival tools):

His Bluesky is such a microcosm of 2016 post trump win twitter is insane, even when he talks about something i agree like how most games kinda half ass corpse retrival mechanics from souls games he has to present them in such an annoying way.
You can just use standard archive tools like archive.ph (except the Wayback Machine). https://archive.ph/s5bhi
For posts that require a sign in you can put the link in https://skyview.social/ and archive it through there.

I had the displeasure of playing He Fucked The Girl Out Of Me on PC and it's objectively a bad game. From what I could tell, it's made using GB Studio, so the "port" is just a direct upload.

Also, please correct me if I am wrong, but isn't McCue male-to-female?
My mistake, you're correct on both of these, I was admittedly going off an unreliable memory of a quick check of the game and dev I did long ago when writing. The entirety of Taylor's repertoire can be described as "traumaslop".

Sounds like the cucks running HG101 (page 9 or so here covers them), or for a distant relative, the 4chan poser e-girls.

No worries. I also played Saving You From Yourself, another art “game” by McCue that barely qualifies as a visual novel. It’s extremely short, lasting no more than ten minutes. The plot is predictably black-and-white: you, a doctor, is a good guy if you let the self-insert drug himself, or utterly evil if you aren’t a doormat and refuse to let an autogynephile harm himself. After playing HFTGOOM and SYFY, I’ve seen enough; I do not want to play more of his games.

I don't know what this idiot thought when posting HFYGOOM. Obviously, they're gonna get comments like that. But people coming to this guys defense is really pointless. In my opinion when you publish something like that then spill your spaghetti talking about your trauma. People are gonna obviously make disgusting jokes like that.

Sega has apparently DMCA'd a large number of prototypes and other assets uploaded to Hidden Palace and Internet Archive. No clue why they're doing it now, but they are. Start downloading stuff you're interested in now if you want to preserve it.
Whoever is doing a Kiwi version of The Cutting Room Floor must have a way of preserving those prototypes and assets. Maybe the same script used in panic-archiving a local copy of The Cutting Room Floor can be used here.

Seriously, the CDR ecosystem consisted of old school gamers and shitposters, many of them latin american as well. The homebrew games you saw there were old school too. Like look at the archive of the upload page I posted, what are the related games? Stuff like Mai Nurse, a cutesy Dr. Mario clone for SMS and some extra platforms (It's pretty nice btw). How do you think such people are going to react when when you put the average itchshit in front of them? Are they going to praise it and talk about it with tact and grace? Or are they going think it's weird and out of place and crack jokes at its expense? Like the closest sort of game these types would be acquainted with is something like Yume Nikki (some might take offense at this comparison but it's what I could think of).

New theory: Teone uploaded the game to weed out and ban the heckin' bigots, like those rainbow crosswalks that are meant to get you fined when you inevitably get skidmarks on them because they're part of the fucking road.
at least celeste is a good game
Funny you mention it, both Celeste-inspired Mario hacks and a GBA port of the Pico-8 original were well recieved. See what I'm getting at?
How do you gatekeep?
Watch out for warning signs in members, specially among those with power or climbing up the ladder.

Which ones?

I do anyways, but he sounds like a tranny and, honestly, is fucking Uno really all that obscure? It's the kind of game you'd stumble on from looking at a romset or a rom site as a kid and recognize it instantly because, well, it's fucking Uno.

You know, before Victor Ireland vanished due to tax evasion and dying of ligma, he was a neogaf/resetera faggot. Not saying lunar and popful mail aren't classics, just that it needs to stay in the 90s.

Sega, it seems, has decided to contract out some pajeets to randomly target anything that is Sonic, Yakuza, or Persona related with AI detection. So far it seems like they're leaving the genesis roms alone, so it's only targeting the more modern stuff, but who knows. They're just hitting shit with sonic, Yakuza or Persona in the name regardless of how well it fits.

There's a youtuber named "Punchy" who reviews obscure PS1 and PS2 games. One time he played a Japan-exclusive UNO game in which there's a scene where a male character is forced to dress up in a girl's uniform. This scene prompts him to make a snide comment about 90s video games. Skip to 13:34 - 13:43.
This reminds me of a video I watched on a famicom game recently. The guy spends a solid part of thevideo complaining about the game being fatphobic along with a unrelated snide comment about MRA's despite the character being a pimp and looking nothing like any MRA's.
