I think that was with Nanotyrannus, iirc. I believe they were still writing papers more recently(like a few years ago), but it's hard to settle whether or not it was a distinct species or just a juvenile of the same species.

if you consider ADHD purely a genetic disorder then yes, the rates are high
but if you consider it as simply a syndrome which can be caused by external sources, it makes sense, it's caused by attention span lowering media, larger and more constant access to worthless mindnumbing non educational entertainment at a younger age, and food additives which are known to cause the symptoms

I believe it's genetic, a have a sibling who is diagnosed with it, my mom shows signs of it and so do I (my signs are closer to the inattentive version) and me and my sibling are considered older Millennials. But I think a lot of things that are considered disorders in the modern day were some sort of evolutionary advantage in our hunter gatherer days.

Things like TikTok can make it seem like you have ADHD, but if you geniually have it, you'd get bored of it at some point and move onto some other new novelty. The amphetamines prescribed for it are because they have the opposite affect and are only supposed to be a temporary fix until you learn the coping skills you need to deal with it. I get being suspicious of it because of the types of drugs prescribed for it, but too much of any drug will have detrimental affects and in those cases where the drugs turn you into a zombie, the dose is probably too high.

In many cases it might be dangerous, but discovering new forms of food or places to settle is obviously very advantageous. I've also heard of other arguments relating autistic traits(which have been described as a hypermasculine neurology) being useful for hunters in a hunter-gatherer society as that hyperfocus on detail and accruing of information relating to things relating to what you're hunting would give an advantage. Alternatively for that hyperfocus would be on manufacturing tools. Another behavior with autists is the tendency to collect things and in pre-civilized times a lot of value was associated with possessions instead of money. Just think of native Americans valuing beads and rare feathers so much. There's also the whole thing with sensation and stimulation for autists too.

For the autistic stuff, if it is the result of a hypermasculine neurology(which there is evidence that autists have more masculine features as kids, pic related is from a study about facial measurements in children with and without ASD(scihub link to the paper) then a lot of how useful autistic traits are is just a manifestation of being more expressive of those male traits that are useful for a hunter to have.

If you look at some of the old methods for tool making too then you find it can be really difficult. Sometimes the best stones aren't anywhere near the good hunting grounds and no matter what the process of chipping and working stones into good tools is tedious and careful work -- at least for any sharp blade. Metal was and is so valued for many hunter-gatherers who get access to it because it's so much easier to work with for making arrowheads and what not(plus it can be repaired). The Sentinelese actually have been witnessed scrapping iron from a shipwrecked ship too.

I know there was some fuckery with the Brontosaurus in relation to the Bone Wars, which had quite a lot of crazy shit going on it. The TL;DR for it is that two rich guys really into paleontology had a huge feud in trying to be the supreme authority on paleontology and both of them ended up spending the vast amount of their fortune in the process. There were some underhanded bits too and they took any chance to mock one another professionally if they could. To quote from the wiki as well:

I can say this 100% happens and sometimes a strange reverse situation occurs when somebody makes themselves appear Jewish/Israeli online for a joke. Can confirm. Took an archaeology class in college to fill a social science/humanities elective and the Professor was really into flintknapping. We had an extra-credit activity where we spent 4 hours trying to knap using GOOD rocks. Shit's hard and really needs to be thought of like artisanal sculpting (I can tell you a well-knapped tool would be the most "expensive"/valuable item a prehistoric man could "own").

You should also consider that a bunch of normal childhood behaviours are grouped under the ADHD umbrella. A lot of diagnoses are of bored, under-stimulated young boys, who rather than their needs being met by changes to the educational system or parenting practices, are dosed up with stimulants and depressants until their brains are so fried that they stop acting out.

Every "ADHD" kid I've known was a normal, active boy whose single mom hated men & by extension hated her son's healthy behavior.
Not saying there's no such thing as ADHD, just that every case I've seen was a mom turning her son into a pilled-up zombie to spite her ex.
